Obviously, one of the most important parts on a bike are the TIRES... performance and safety are paramount as well as longevity.

Let's see what you guys are running with info, prices, links, pics, etc. :punk03:

I'm running Kenda Milleville knobbies with the "not for" shaved off the "highway use" section. ;) :D I've had them up to ~90mph for short bursts on pavement, but I don't really recommend it.:yikes:

I've always been partial to the Continental TKC 80 especially if you are doing mostly dirt. If more paved then I like the Michelin Anakee for the rear and still the TKC for the front.

I'd run TKC's all the time if I could afford them but with the high miles I put on bikes that isn't happening.

I've used http://www.swmototires.com for years with great success and Blaine has good prices and free shipping with 2 or more tires.

Oh, and sometimes you need to carry both sets on an extended trip.

I'm really enjoying these Kenda Trakmaster 2.

Was blasting some forest service roads on Monday... hitting 70-80mph on the gravel straights and not much less than 40mph around the non blind curves. Blind curves I would do about 20mph around. Good times.

Hold up great on trails too.

I have been using the Conti TKC-80s. I am getting between 9 and 10K out of the fronts, and about half that on the rear.

The performance is there for the riding style I have (back country touring).

I have used SW moto as well. Blaine is a good guy, but looking at selling the business. Heck, he may have already sold it.....it has been 5 months or so since I saw him.

Two tires that I've used and work well in the PNW are the Pirelli MT21 (front and rear)
And the Dunlop D606 (rear).

Friends have used the D606 on the front and say it's a bit squirelly on gravel, so I've stuck with the tried and true MT21 on the front because that's what I've used since 1995, and it works. but last year I tried a D606 on the rear and will run it from now on I think.

Oh, and this is on a DRZ400S that primarily is ridden dirt.

I might suggest you look into the Trakmaster 2. I've thoroughly enjoyed them on all surfaces so far, and I can blast down gravel roads where I felt entirely too uncomfortable on the MT21s.

While I don't do much pavement anymore, I've found Maxxis Desert IT's to be a really stout tire. The Desert IT was really built for long distance desert races like the Baja 1000, so speed and logetivity are its strong points. They're kind of expensive, at around $75 for a rear, but a great tire.
