Early Nineties F350 - aftermarket?

I am looking into getting an early nineties IDI F350 Crew Cab.

I have been looking into the aftermarket parts availability and there seems to be little out there -

am I missing something?

I am basically looking for a heavy duty recovery bumper - front/rear, over-sized brake kit and sliders.

Anyone have any good sources. I can get someone to make them - but thought that the bolt on stuff might be easier.

Keep in mind that the early 90's f150, 250, 350 and Full Size Bronco's share much of their parts. Not sure if that means anything for bumpers but just an FYI. For restoration type parts look at broncograveyard.com and LMCtruck.com. You might check out fullsizebronco.com (forum) for info on bumpers that would fit your rig. I know there are several vendors on there that make custom bumpers.

Oh, BTW, there is a Centurion Forum out there too, I think it's Four Door Bronco or something like that, and many of those were built on the F350 chassis as well, so that may be another resource for you.

Jeffs Bronco Graveyard is another good source for parts.

I agree!!

pretty sure ranch hand makes a bumper for them.

lots of rebuild stuff out there for your kingpin dana 60. http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/D60-high-steer-kit-for-kingpin-axles_p_1246.html springless arms,

shackle reversal lift sold by sky offroad design, a lot of guys are making there own rocksliders.

there is a disc brake kit from ruffstuff specialties, and diff covers, http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=9&products_id=342,

the sterling rear axle can use a detroit locker, no arbs available yet.

I have A L0T of reading to do -

isn't the d60 on that year a balljoint syle?
don't detriot lockers put a lot of wear on tires with street driving?
are you sure that the rear is not a dana too?

I should maybe wait until I get the truck and then do a "school me on my new ride" thread? -- or that can go on here as well

Buckstop also makes a nice front and rear bumper replacement. There are parts literally everywhere for your truck, just a matter of finding them. Almost every aftermarket 4 wheel drive place will carry parts and accessories. Since the Bronco, F150-F350 all share the same body parts from 87-96 with the exception of the change to the front clip and a few interior pieces, alot of the parts are a universal fit between those years.

ball joints started in 1994 i believe,

detroits do wear on street tires. i don't remember if they started using speed sensors in the rear axle in 1994 or earlier. if no speed sensor you could always swap in a dana 70,80 or corp 14 and put disc brakes and an arb in that.

the rear axle is definitely a sterling unless it is a dually. ford quit using dana rear axles in the 80's for the srw trucks

if the aftermarket stuff is holding you up, don't let it. it's out there and there is lots of it.

very easy to swap a cummins in. better trannys than gm. decent tcases.

look for cracking around rad support, and brake/clutch pedal assembly on the firewall. not a big deal if there is.

rottbox has one that he has been working on here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38047&highlight=idi+f350

ford fullsize thread has some: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50573&highlight=powerstroke

I called four wheel parts - what seemed like a larger parts supplier - and there wasn't much. I called and spoke to a rep on the phone and asked if there was anyone he could suggest who was making these parts and he said "not that I know of".

I have not done a whole lot of digging - sorry this was a premature posting - I just got done learning everything I could about my motorcycles over the past two years - so I know that if you poke around enough all the "i'm a new guy threads" have answers that the posters are just not far enough along to have found - it is all out there - you just have to find it.

at least I did not throw up a "newb" post over on pirate!

damn greenhorns!

Had you thrown up a newb post on pirate, you would not be happy HAHAHA... Anyway... Like has been said, there are parts available, you just have to search for them. I would LOVE to have that same year F350... Nice choice in a truck!
