Earthroamer body source

I think I have found the company Earthroamer used to make the body
shell for the XV-LT camper. Take a look partway down this web page:
http://www.cfmaier.com/products/vehicles.htm

The company is
C.F. Maier Composites Inc.
16351 Table Mountain Pkwy
Golden, Colorado 80403-1641
(303) 278-8013
golden@cfmaier.com

The company may have produced bodies that Earthroamer can't pay
for. If that is the case, it may be possible to purchase an unfinished
body for installation on your F450 chassis. Might be worth a call!

Interesting. Looks like a company that's useful for other expo vehicle / trailer ideas. My biggest gripe with my camper's Chinook-designed roof is the way it does not overlap the walls, but sits within the perimeter. Probably this company could take my roof and use it as a pattern to nicely engineer a new one-piece 'factory-look' version. No money in the budget for such a fix, but I'll bookmark their web site.

I like the one little trailer they show, too, reminds me of the back of a Triumph TR6.

Or maybe they can fix you up with the XV-JP shell for the Wrangler Unlimited. Having temporarily taken my interior down to the raw walls, I can see that it looks relatively straightfoward (famous last words) to mate the cabin top to the Jeep.

And Thanks, Chip. Nice catch.

Kind of off topic but related - Does anyone know what refrigerator was used in the Earthroamer? All the specs say is 7 cf, 12 volt.

Thanks, Vic

Nova Cool also makes a terrific unit, the comparable one is the 9000 series.

I'm sure they can. The question is, Can you afford to pay for it? :sombrero:
A one-off design is bound to be expensive.

Looking at the photos on the C.F. Maier web site, it appears that the
company also makes the bodies for Hallmark Camper, the Colorado
company that makes soft-sided popup campers. The camper shell
is far down the page, below the Earthroamer.

Call them up. They are very nice. They aren't willing to work on something unless you can be on site to answer all of the questions as the mold is built, which makes perfect sense.

Another possibility is the Sunfrost units. As stated on their website:

All models are available in 12 or 24 volt DC, or 110 or 220 volt AC.

Very popular with the alternative energy crowd due to its efficiency. Again their claim is:

Sun Frost refrigerators and freezers are so outstandingly energy-efficient, powering a home with solar power or other low output energy sources is both feasible and affordable.

A final quote from their website is:

Rugged Design
Sun Frost refrigerators and freezers are ideal for use in boats, RVs and conversion buses. All Sun Frost refrigerators are completely rust-proof. There is no need to level the refrigerator, and vibration will not affect its operation. Sun Frost refrigerators can also run directly off of batteries, so no generator is necessary.

Did anyone contact them and see if they would be willing to sell one of these earthroamer bodies, or make one? Seems like a neat company

It should be a propriatory design.

They might get sued if they sold you a shell.

You could be right. Depends on their agreement. If they promised to purchase a certain amount, or have an unpaid product sitting there, they should be able to sell to recoup expenses.

Nice find Chip!

Folks

You are expending a lot of bandwidth speculating. EarthRoamer went to bankruptcy and then later its intellectual property (including the molds) were re-acquired by Bill Swails, the originator of ER. So i really doubt that CFMaier is in any position to build shells off those molds without Bill's permission. Give him a call and ask if you really are interested.

His phone # is available at www.earthroamer.com, 720.862.0040
