I prefer rechargeable devices if possible. E. G. Fenix flashlight and headlamp, Thermacell, Luci Light, coffee bean grinder, dog collars, etc.. I carry AA, AAA cells out of habit, and one 9 volt for the smoke alarm.

Nearly all my stuff that requires a AA or AAA is now on rechargeable. I’ve been using the energizer ones for several years with no complaints. I just do a mental note to pull and charge once a week or so, and at least for my helmet AA, carry a fully charged backup set in my pocket.
But at this point, we pretty much buy rechargeable devices with internal battery. Thermacell, camping fan/light, goalzero lantern, etc…. All usb and/or solar rechargeable

Ya, kinda looks like a toy. Nah, back in the 80's-90's and working Narcotics and the 5 shoot S&W Model 60 was the state of the art of weapons there wasn't a lot of back-up options other then a Model 36 or the Beretta 21A (have that one as well).
North American Arms came out with this little .22 cal pistol in a pocket clip folder handle. Heck, pocket clip knives hadn't even been invented yet! Anyway, you could clip this to the top of your boot or inside a jacket or pocket or wherever so if you needed it you drew it, flicked it open (like a current folder pocket knife) and cocked the hammer, all in one motion. Spent many hours on surveillance practicing that draw.
Anyway, 38 years later I still have it and it still gets carried.

(I know. If I have to explain it, it wasn't funny. But Zoom was a kid's tv show on PBS in the 1970's. The cast was all local kids dressed in striped rugby shirts, sometimes doing fun things for kids)
Here in Mass it's been illegal to leave your peice in your car. So, when you end up at the post office, what were you supposed to do...

I don’t generally carry anything with me these days. The sketchy areas here don’t get sketchy til late at night, and I’m sleeping by then. When I’m out in the country hunting or fishing I have my Beretta in case coyote or cat gets interested in my dog. When I lived in Seattle I did roof coatings & waterproofing on commercial buildings in lots of areas hat were sketchy 24-7. Had several run ins with gang bangers & drug dealers. I always had my Ruger LC-9 & Benchmade on me.

I the switched to a phone case, that had room for a few cards and ID.
Now I am switching phones and going to try and find a small/minimalist wallet.
I did a search, and the only thread I found was 10yrs old. Tech has changed a lot in 10yrs though. RFID blocking, tap cards, etc

When I got my motorcycle, I swapped it out to be able to use a quadlock case so just got a card wallet like this:

How long have you had it and is how is it holding up? I have a similar one and after about a year, the cards have started to slide out of the slots too easily. I am going to lose one, or more, if I don't get a new wallet soon.

I have an Eagle Creek wallet that I bought at REI, about a gazillion years ago. The Velcro loops have a slight bit of fuzziness around the edges, but no other noticeable wear.
