Edgestar Fridge Modifications Thread

When I carry mine (even with the racks removed) I can hear that it sounds like something is not tightened down inside. I thought it was the compressor or something in that area. Took the side panel off and checked. Everything was securely mounted. Was still rattley, so I checked again. Still rattles. Done checking, lol haven't had any issues

I have a Whynter running on AC under the bar, and it sounds like that just sitting on a tile floor. I think they are louder than the current Indels and ARBs because of all the sheet metal vs plastic.

I installed KK6POV tie downs today and installed some d rings and used turnbuckles to tighten everything down. Really happy with my setup now.

??? People actually calculate wire size for small loads like this?
...for random small loads/accessories; I just use fine stranded, oil resistant 12 gauge appliance wire.
It doesn't have to be optimum just more than big enough.

...don't sweat the little things...

Enjoy!

If the voltage source was constant there would be less of an issue. Batteries are not a constant voltage source which means wire size considerations are "sweatable" :sombrero:

When in doubt (or if excessively paranoid) just run two adequate wires in parallel (sized by any; 12V, current, length, wire size table ) along with a copper ground, in parallel with the chassis ground. for double the "ampacity" and to minimize any chassis corrosion/resistance issues... its also often cheaper, and hides under carpet better, than buying an extra large wire size (other than starters, winches or welding) I don't even think twice about wire size.

Not a "true" mode, but I thought I'd mention that these Rubbermaid ice bins fit perfectly across the short side of the fridge (with wire basket removed), allowing more compartmentalization. I got mine at local Orchard Supply Hardware.

Thank you for the idea. Fixed your link -

I have a 86qt model and the ice bin fits perfectly on the side of the big basket with some shelving clips (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L4ED4JU/). Should work great for keeping small items organized better inside the fridge...

I was wanting to pick up a couple of wire baskets that will fit my Whynter 65 qt. fridge. Haven't really looked yet but that looks like it may do the trick.

Has anyone added a second temp gauge to the other side of the fridge? The way I have mine mounted I can't see it and would like to be able to monitor the temp a little easier....

My fridge stopped cooling! It kicks on only when I unplug it and let it rest then plug it back in. It only works for maybe a few minutes then nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you read through this thread yet? You probably have a leak and need to recharge your unit. Get a PBV and some guages and some refrigerant and you can recharge it yourself

I bought something like this at Walmart a while back. I have the display up front to see the temp while I am driving.
