Eezi Awn Bat 270

I had the Spoyla 1.5, on the back of the jeep. This option will work better for me. I have a couple buddies who have the fox wing, they are great option. I think this one will be a game changer.............no guidelines, etc to deal with. I am solo camping a lot, so ease of setup is the key for me.
I forgot to ask? what did you do with the Spoyla ?

Got pricing on the Shadow awning from AluCab direct. Joe tells me the price just went up last monday in August!. it was $11,995 Rand (~$874 USD) - just increased to $12750 Rand ($929 USD) Can be had in RH or LH at no additional charge. I also asked about USA shipping, and the possibility of having all the aluminum components Powder coated BLACK for extra protection and aesthetics.

He is going to contact his shipper for a port to port price. Baltimore port from cape town.

We shall see though. If it works out the same as last time, I might get hit win another ~$700 in shipping/fees on the stateside import of it. My guess is it will be another $6000 Rand (~$450 USD) or more since it is a long item.

Hence why the Eezi Awn is priced as high as it is. Importing items is ridiculously expensive. Especially if your not an established customer who imports items in mass quantities.....

The people from Alu Cab got back to me on the Shadow Awning.

Hi Charles,
Apologies for the delay.
I lost your mail, and had to reload all my mails.

We had a look at the Awning and are very scared to actually recommend an install on Fiberglas tops.
In our experience we found that the vibrations brittle up the fibre glass and the awning eventually tears out of the unit.
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
regards,

Puts an end to my shadow Awning research, although it surprises me that they did not offer an engineering approach for me. Or maybe they had, and this is thier reply. I will now be waiting to hear from John at Ursa Minor on how those brackets shown above can be adapted for a first generation Ursa Minor top.

Yeah, anybody who has ever contemplated mounting a roof rack, awning, etc... to a fiberglass shell has been in the exact same boat.

I suspect weight is not too big of a concern, fiberglass molded components are fairly strong when the weight is properly distributed. Awnings that pivot off one corner put huge stresses on a single point.

Do you know if this is a concern if the J30 has steel backing plates at each mounting point (especially if four, rather than two, mounting points are used), or only if it is mounted through the fiberglass alone?

Here are some pics of the BAT 270 wall kit. I installed it yesterday. Fairly easy, make sure you do your measurements correctly and all is good. It is quality and heavy duty, as all the Eezi Awn products. I am impressed, large door and 2 large screened in windows. There is a ton of room inside for sleeping on a cot, etc. and plenty of room for my cooking setup......

How are the zippers on the room? My awning zipper already has an issue. Also when stored does your awning get wet in rain? Mine does

It is only 2 panels total, they wrap all around inserting in the poles. You then zip the 2 panels together........
