Same Trail, Different Time and a Vehicle ?

I'm running this trail with a different group in January, if anyone is interested in joining us drop Pskhaat or myself a note.

My specific question is about vehicle selection... I've got a dilemna here, I'm kinda in between trucks as I just bought a 97 FZJ80, but I still have a nicely built 85 FJ60. For comfort reasons I would certainly rather take this trip in the new truck but it will be in unlocked  stock form, other than a sweet TRD Supercharger :gunt: . My question is will there be any obstacles that would behoove me to take the 60 with lockers, winch etc...?

All input will be greatly appreciated.

I'm also looking for any advice on the best way to rationalize to my dear wife getting the 80 lifted, locked, and protected before this adventure.

My recollection from a couple of years ago is the majority of the route does not require 4WD. Any stock high clearance 4WD vehicle should have no problem.

Stock, high clearance 4wd.

A few arroyos will give you pause. Christmas Pass is a little rocky. Sand is deep in spots.

I think I could drive the whole trail in a RAV4

Can everyone please confirm their status for this trip? I have a few on standby that I need to give a final word to.

I am also going to plan a trip to the AZPLIC office in Phoenix in the next week or so to get permits. The AZ contingent can meet up and have lunch and then get the permits.

Wahoo!
I am full-on confirmed go ahead for this trip.
It will be myself, Amy and maybe Oliver.
We'll have the Land Rover, but I did give serious thought to bringing our Toyota Rav4 after reading the post above!
Grandma and Grandpa are scheduled to watch the babe and we are very excited!:jumping: :jumping:

I'm 100% too. My Super Cool wife can't come, so I completely understand if you don't want me around without her :p

Scott,

I'm sure this info is soon to come but I was wondering if you have an idea of the itinerary of activities and if we need any specialized equipment for any of them. I think I remember you mentioning the opportunity for some rock climbing?:rappel:

Thanks
