We just returned from our 4th Annual trip to the El Camino del Diablo. This time we led 8 vehicles through over 3 days.

I really like that trail, between the scenery the history and the combo of wildlife refuge and military range it is very unique.

Glad to hear you guys had a good run.

I saw your entry into the sign-in book at the casita. Don't remember which date you were there, but I saw that you were. d :)

"the combo of wildlife refuge and military range it is very unique."

The military is, in general, a good steward of the land it controls.
Even active bombing ranges are filled with wildlife. For example,
Elgin Air Force Base in Florida is home to many forms of wildlife
that are scarce in other parts of the state. Elgin is where they test
the MOAB ordinance.

Usually the Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge, which is located at the eastern end of the Devil's Highway, closes every year from March 15 through September in respect of the Sonoran Pronghorn Antelope fawning season. I noticed that this year they have post-poned the closing date to April 15th, which they do in years of high rainfall.

Offroadpassport.com may go back to the area again this year to explore parts of it we never have, but I just wanted to clarify that we won't run the whole trail again until March of next year. We do the 'Devil's Highway' proper annually.

we always welcome new users over at ORP! i just wanted to point out that expo portal is a great site and simply serves a really wide audience. i love expo portal and it's a great place where i see many others from lots of clubs/sites come share their trips and technical info.

ORP was created specifically out of a desire to have a home where trips and events are the #1 priority and everything else comes second - we aren't trying to replace any other clubs/sites, but rather just expand the number of resources out there for everyone in this sport!
