Looks like you have some new camper build pictures up on your Facebook page. How is the effort coming along?
Regarding removal of the DEF system and/or the DPF, don't waste your time and money thinking about it. The hardware and the firmware that controls and monitors the system is just to intertwined to make it possible.
What's needed is a way to mix UREA, in a granular packet form, with distilled water to make your own DEF solution. You figure that out and you'll win the Nobel Peace Prize and can travel off the patent royalties.

I am going to start looking to see where DEF is available or explore granular urea....
The truck is coming along slowly... I have the roof hatch & vent fan in, almost done with the insulation, then onto the supports for the happijac bed lift as one leg is going to cross the fold out bed. Then I can finalize the location for the shower & cassette toilet and move onto the cabinetry.
Any recommendations for solar panels & batteries manufacturers?

I fired off an email to AdBlue this morning asking about availability of their product in SA, haven't heard back yet.
Have you been keeping track of your DEF consumption?
Has it been about one gallon per 300 miles?
If your going to mix your own, you've got to get it right. There's a DEF quality sensor in the system.

Just looked it up...high grade prilled urea and distilled "32.5% of high grade environmental urea is mixed with 67.5% deionized water to create what is known in the industry as DEF or AdBlue "
Not rocket science to do, and might be an interesting experiment.

A dry freight cargo box typically comes with a single sheet of aluminum for a roof. If yours has one, you've noticed by now that they get freaken HOT out in the sun. You might consider applying a white reflective paint to the roof prior to mounting solar panels. Keep in mind, on a HOT summer day you might prefer to seek some shade and place the panels away from the rig out in the sun.

We are getting about 400 miles per gallon of DEF. I need to learn more about what conditions effects the consumption of DEF.
I would imagine that mixing DEF might create all sorts of confusion for the sensors unless it's just right.

Yes it does get HOT! That's a great suggestion on the paint, it looks fantastic. I was also considering mounting bars to allow for airflow under the panels, but the paint would probably do away with the need for these.
I'm going to want to park in the shade... So I am planning to have a portion of the solar attached to the roof and then a portable panel which can be placed in the sun to top up the batteries if they aren't getting enough from the panels on the roof.

Not entirely true. I imagine you would have said that about a 2009 BMW X5 35d as well. Yet I have a kit coming with a new downpipe to replace the SCR/DPF; simultaneously pull the ECU for reprogramming with a particular specialist; voila, no fuel consuming/CO2 increasing regenerations with no CE lights. For the Fuso, someone who knows how (understands the ECU) just needs to do it.

Your post is confusing. Do you have a kit coming for a BMW or for a FUSO?
With these SCR/DPF emission systems, one should get their diesel fuel for free. Your essentially driving around an air cleaner. The air being drawn in is dirtier than what goes out the tail pipe.
