:iagree:, but we need someone to fill in when he's not around.
OK, you can all relax & stand down. I'm here now. LOL...

I was running 30psi.
I had to drive over 100 miles back home on highway. Didn't want to wobble across the lanes at 80mph... But airing down would help ALOT!
Time for a portable air compressor or CO2 tank? The MV50's are pretty decent units and relatively affordable at only $55 plus free 2nd day shipping if you have Amazon Prime (http://www.amazon.com/Industries-MV...1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346194243&sr=8-1&keywords=mv50).

Interesting, didn't know they can be that cheap. I was looking at what ARB makes but wasn't too happy about the price.

Has anyone had any experience with MV50 compressor? Can they mount on board like ARB units?

EVERYONE has experience with the ubiquitous MV-50. They are fine. Are they good, no. Are they adequate, absolutely. I have used mine for years as a spare compressor to hand off to people I meet on the trail. It's never failed.

Regarding your photos.....kinda hard to see the trail in some of those shots. You ARE on the trail, right?

I might give it a try.

I was on the Barker Pass rd trail that ran form Highway 89 towards Bear Lake. Then hopped on the forest road to Ellis Peak.

The ARB's old standard unit (CKMA12) was not that much better at 2.65CFM (ARB) vs 2.54 CFM (MV50). These days though I've upgraded to a bigger more powerful compressor with a smittybilt 2781 model (~$150) at 5.65CFM which is great for my 35's.

You mind sharing on your mounting solution?

As Grasscat said, it's in a bag that was included with the unit. As you might have discerned it's not made by Smittybilt, but by a 3rd party and Smittybilt just puts their name on the product. I've seen a very similar compressor from a different maker elsewhere.

Uses special cubic feet (maybe kid sizes?) no doubt. In liters its much more realistic 72 liters/minute according to http://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-2781-5-65-Universal-Compressor/dp/B004K25GMG Considering real cubic foot contains 27liters that translates to 2.66 CFMs which is pretty much in line with other 1/3hp compressors.

I recently bought Puma/DC5000 (same as Extreme Outback ExtremeAir) 3/4 hp compressor - nice and fast but more expensive for sure.

BTW 2.66 CFM is really really good.

For a set of 33x12.5x15's that ARB is just good enough in my experience and actually begins to get pretty hot beyond that. In desert heat, I almost wouldn't recommend it. That said, if you want to wait to refill your buddies tires also, you probably need to let the compressor rest or you really risk overheating the unit. Speaking of which, they would probably be lot worse when filling my 35's.

Another aspect you may be wondering about is the compressor duty cycle. While I couldn't find a spec for it, I did find that Smittybilt notes a maximum 40min run time @ 40psi @ 75 deg F. That said, in similar ambient temp conditions, I found I could fill my 35" tires from 12-32PSI in under 3 min. so I suspect it will last long enough to fill tires for a couple of friends as well.

As for the Puma/Extreme Outback units, they are very nice units but definitely a lot more expensive. Probably on par with the ARB dual compressor model but I couldn't find a website showing the Puma compressor specs. BTW, from my research I read the AIM model is called the DC5000 while the Puma model is actually the dc05. Is that right?

So finally pulled the trigger on some 35s.
They are 315/75/16 ******** Cepek M/T Mountain Cats

Local tire shop was having a special so it was too good of a deal to pass up. They were selling them in sets of 4 so they wouldnt let me buy one for a spare. Hopefully this week they will get some more.
Total paid $890 with tax, mount/balance/installation.
Retails about $295 per tire.

So far pretty impressed with the quality, rides very well. Clears fenders ok, eventually will add rear coil spacers and lift the front end a bit more.

All is left to see is how they do offroad. :safari-rig:

Sorry for the driveway pics, will take some action shots next time on the trails.
