Sounds like a new business to start

No kidding, or at least share the template on DIY tactical. Those guys would have a field day with it. That was a beautiful solution to an annoying problem.

I'm all about customer obsession, but any smart decision maker won't/can't listen to all feedback. You accept feedback from people who have credibility.

So negative viewer feedback = "no credibility"? Huh.

Give it some time fellas. Judge based on the entire body of work and realize they might not be your show (FREE), but that doesn't necessarily mean they haven't succeeded.

Second time you've mentioned the cost, or lack thereof. Why? It's irrelevant. The relationship between the show and its viewership is symbiotic. There wouldn't be a season three without the amount of views and (several) repeated views of last season's episodes. That doesn't happen without its core viewers who tune in every week and watch the same episode once, twice, three times or more. Forget about YouTube economics. How many YT "stars" do you know of that make their majority of their income from YT? There's a reason why Toyota gave them $70k+ worth of vehicles, and it probably has to do with the fact that their videos from the first season alone have several hundred thousand views.

Better idea is if you don't like it, grab a go pro, a drone and an iPhone and go film your adventure and show us your idea of awesome. The cloud content distribution services are all there!

You do realize there are several very talented people that already do that, and, while not as artistic as EO's, they offer great content.

Hell, where it not for one of those "other" videos, I would have never found EO's channel on YouTube!

Lots of whining and bitching as well as some great feedback in this thread. It makes for a funny and interesting read.

Thanks to Kurt for not taking some of the bait and staying above board while having a real discussion.

Kurt,

I'd be VERY interested in hearing about the behind the scenes logistics.

Like how is food/water procured and stored for a weeks worth of travel for 8-10 people? Same with fuel? Seems to me that you always have plenty of supplies. Guess you are never really that far from civilization and can re-stock. Also, more info on that 'resort' ya'll visited last episode? Is that open to the public? With electricity and plenty of food/beer, seems to be a destination for quite a few people?

Great series, this is the best of it's kind. Very refreshing, fun, informative and done with a high bar for quality. A job well done!

As I read through the thread, I've found many people to add to my 'IGNORE LIST' (one of the best features on the site).

All the anonymous internet critics are laughable, show me something you've done of interest! You remind me of the fat guys at the gym, who only do arms and pass out workout advice. No thanks fatty!

I made a set for my 60. Super easy. Trace the profile onto cardboard, go to a fabric store and buy a few yards, add a couple inches for sewing and trimming and sew. Cost me $10 to do 4 windows.

Did you make them with just he windows in mind, or to double as wearable mosquito netting? I don't know if that was the intent, but that's what I got from the first episode (and what initially piqued my interest).

I made window netting. If you can sew, making a full body one is not much different. Probably easier as you have pants and shirts already to use as a template.

Will do. That gives me some criteria to prep for.

As for the "resort", it is much more appropriately considered a back-packing hostel. Super neat place, primitive accommodations and off the grid, access by boat only. Wilmer (our interpreter) is an employee there and the owner is a big supporter of the Team 5 mission thus the reason we stayed there. Bunch more info on their website: http://www.fincatatin.centramerica.com/main.htm

I think I found XO from a suggested video after watching some CT4WD videos. I enjoyed the narration and quality of their videos and didn't think they could get much better until I found XO. Just thought I'd add that to the mix, the whole talk of "other" videos reminded me.

Check out CT4WD channel they have some cool videos too.

I for one am really enjoying this season. Clay and the rest of the group seem like nice guys. It looks to me like they'd have had a tougher time with the logistics of crossing all the borders if you hadn't been along Kurt.

It was my job so I did my best to make it easy... it didn't hurt that I had crossed the borders in previous trips :D

The team is very talented and everyone contributed in one form or another. I look like a fool with a camera and can't cook so logistics was easy.
