I guess I should have posted the overall plan for the truck.
The truck will be lightly, but thoughtfully, modified. An Old Man Emu suspension system (heavy) will smooth the ride out and allow me to run 235x75 BFG AT tires. 4:1 transfer case gears will make up for the larger tires in 2hi and the lower low range will probably be of assistance somewhere along the way. All the rust has been repaired and the paint redone. The driveline is essentially new; a mechanic friend of my dad's has been prepping it for me.
At the front, a new bumper from Zuks Off-Road will hold a Pierce Arrow P6000 6000lbs winch. I will be carrying the standard recovery gear to go with that winch. I am still debating the decision to install a synthetic winch line. The fact that the roller that came with the winch does not fit the cutout on the bumper, necessitating a new fairlead anyways is pushing me into the synthetic corner. Another OME product, a steering stabilizer will replace the ancient stock unit.
A 15 gallon fuel tank expands our range by 50% so hopefully I won't need to carry a jerry can.
Seats from a Dodge Neon, a Tuffy center console and new carpeting will round out the interior. A lot of money has been spent repairing lots of very small items. I cringe to think what it all would have cost with my old 80 series.
I will also be building a drawer system, and may buy an Edgestar fridge. The fridge leads to a dual battery system which I may not have the time or money to install. If I thought we could get by without dual batteries I wouldn't hesitate buying a fridge.
That's pretty much it. All camping gear will be carried in soft bags strapped down to the drawer system.
