This budget Cruiser has been a labor of love. It was a one owner, which sounds great until you learn the one owner smoked like a chimney. It was ridiculously inexpensive but does have some rocker panel rust. To date I have done the following 'catch up maintenance':
- Replaced ball joints
- Replaced steering rack
- Replaced front and rear sway bar links/bushings
- Replaced fan bracket, idler, serpentine belt and tensioner
- Replaced one ignition coil
- Replaced heater hose tees
- Replaced tires
- Replaced shocks
- Repacked wheel bearings

The only 'mods' I have been able to afford have been the removal of the running boards, a new radio, added cabin filters and installed a Midland CB. I've scrubbed every piece of interior twice and the stench of cigarettes is finally starting to leave

I once bought a Suburban like that..it smelled terrible but got a sweet deal on it. I scrubbed and scrubbed, tried every remedy I could find online too, and eventually it all began to help. Then I found a detail shop...they shampooed the headliner and carpet and used some kind of "bomb" that eliminated the smell FOREVER. Good luck man...you'll get it!!

3. How long have you owned your 100 series? Is this your first? I've owned this one for 3wks. I'm on my second one but only owned the first one 5mo before stumbling onto this low-mileage Hundy.

5. Your favorite mods... If any: 275/70/18 BFG KO2's on 2006 wheels. I'll eventually put an ICON Stage 2 and maybe some Dessent Bumpers.

3. How long have you owned your 100 series? Is this your first? Bought it about 2 months ago. Not my first, this is my 3rd 100 series, had 5 80 seriess, and one FJ60
4. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage: 325,000 miles at purchase / 326,000 today. Came with a ton of service record, major service 8,000 miles ago with new timing belt, water pump, radiator, tune up, starter, and several more things. It doesn't leak a drop of anything and has always been in Knoxville, TN so no rust.
5. Your favorite mods... If any: Favorite mod is all my custom armor from a local fabricator in Maryville, Tn
6. How your 100 is used: I have a 2006 DC TRD Off Road Tacoma as my DD so the 100 is a trail rig. I like to drive it so I normally drive it to the office once a week and drive it on the weekend.

The day I bought it, about 2 months ago


First mods: OME 2.5" lift including OME heavy rear springs, shocks, OME torsion bars, Slee diff drop, snorkel, and Nitto TG 295/75R16 tires.


Custom front & rear bumpers, rear bumper has dual swing outs with spare and jerry can holder, low profile roof rack, sliders, and fender guard rails.

I have a new Smittybilt X20 12,000 lb winch ready to be mounted, 50" light bar, and several more LED lights to mount. Just ordered an ARB air compressor, after that, 2nd battery. In the next 6 months, front ARB locker, rear already has a factory e-locker. I don't think I'll need the front locker but it's a good way to cure the weak front diff in the 98. My last 100 had 4.88 gears but I was running 315 tires, I think I will be fine running the stock gear set because I have plenty of power at this point with the 295's.

Hi, I have always had Land Rovers, I still have 2 Defenders, but always wanted to see what the fuss is about!!
Although I wanted an '03 onwards, this has undergone a full rebuild and paint by a classic car builder who used this for the last 9 years. It had an oil change 500 miles ago and the oil is still clear!

5. Your favorite mods... If any: 285/75 16 BFG AT's fitted in the first week. I've just had an ARB rack delivered, that's my next job.
6. How your 100 is used... weekends occasionally, shooting, trials bike carrying, camping, day trips, general stuff.

5. Your favorite mods... If any: So far just replaced running boards with sliders and replaced the tires with 275/70-18 BFG AT KOs. Will soon lift and add bumpers.
6. How your 100 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.: DD mainly, but is also our travel vehicle. Plan on using it for camping, off-roading, and more.
