my last 40 series....
a)1965 fj45swb, 2f with fj60 accessories, parabolic springs, otherwise stockish. will live someday.

c)had this one 11 years, before that, i had a 71, 78, 68, 73, 75, 77, 65 fj40s, 64, 65, and this 45, 69, 71, 73, 79, 74, 76 fj55s, 83 60, 89 62, and 95 80. sorry, i have the sickness bad.....
d)mileage...unknown....no powertrain when i got it and i still haven't gotten it running. sig other ordered a new h20 pump today tho and he's dead set on d)getting it running.
f)fave mod....it's a 45swb removable top....that is the favorite part
g)garage decoration
h)no build thread...unless i started one way back when on mud, but i've forgotten

1976 FJ40 Whitey- previous owner was about to chop and channel into a hot rod when I grabbed it off the CCOT list
I own 2 - 76's... about 15 years now on the Green, 7 yrs on the whitey
White Rig mileage 115k,Green Rig 150k +
Great simple bolt on mod- White cruiser converted to the 2f to a Motorcraft 2100 Carburetor and run the same on the SBC.. I got 19 mpg documented on the small block Chevy. ( PM links if interested)
Green Rig 150k 1976' Fj40-305 SBC project that kept my sons busy maintaining in High school and out of trouble and best money ever spent. The green rig has been changed a bit through the years

3. How long have you owned your 40 series? Is this your first? Four years to date. First 40-series; 3rd Land Cruiser.

4. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage: 55,000 on odo at purchase; real mileage unknown.

5. Your favorite mods... If any: Orion 4:1 transfer case, ARB air lockers front and back.

6. How your 40 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.: Overland travel, 4-wheeling, work, DD.

7. 'Final thoughts, good or bad, pros or cons, about owning and driving a 40 series.: Life in the slow lane is good - you can't be in a hurry to drive a 40, so you learn to appreciate the journey, the sights, the sounds, the smells, etc. To enjoy a 30+ year-old truck, you have to appreciate it for what it is, and what it is not.

5. Your favorite mods... If any: Custom turbo system for the H diesel engine. (Also ended up killing the engine after 20k miles.)
6. How your 40 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.: Baja beach camping
7. My wife thinks the 40 series Troopy is the perfect travel vehicle. So that's why I own a couple.

It's my first 40. Bought from the original owner here in town two years ago. He put 199k on the clock and left me with a great canvas to create with...

199k D.O.P. - 200k something now
5. Your favorite mods... If any:
It's currently at Safari LTD in Grand Junction getting some much needed TLC (July of 2012)
6. How your 40 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.:
Bought it to tow behind the Sportsmobile to explore the back country and to try to keep from tearing up the van
7. 'Final thoughts, good or bad, pros or cons, about owning and driving a 40 series.
It's a great truck that I plan to keep...if only I can keep the '74 Bronco from sucking up all my cash...;)

If any: Swiveling drink holders, Snorkel, Rear fording exhaust stack, 2.5" SS exhaust, Turbo, Dual batteries, radiator hose heater, Winch Guard, Relocated turn signals from fenders to front bumper with Early style Bib lights, Vinyl Hood blackouts, Razorback Boar hood ornament, Roundeye headlights, ARB air lockers and chromoly axles F&R
6. How your 40 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.: DD, family adventure, Overland Travel one day hopefully
7. 'Final thoughts, good or bad, pros or cons, about owning and driving a 40 series. Rough ride, limited cargo space but always turns heads, wouldnt want it any other way

4. Mileage at date of purchase and present mileage: 53k on the odometer, but who knows how many are one the truck
5. Your favorite mods... If any: nv4500 tranny is nice
6. How your 40 is used... ie. DD, family adventure, overland travel, etc.: DD and family outings
7. 'Final thoughts, good or bad, pros or cons, about owning and driving a 40 series. The truck is awesome, I really enjoy the 40 series cruiser.

5. Your favorite mods: OEM soft top, Celica seats and Gozzard tub.
6. How your 40 is used: DD for 12 years, camping vehicle and now being groomed for more overland style travel.
7. Final thoughts, good or bad, pros or cons, about owning and driving a 40 series: An iconic, classic ride that keeps you from turning into a sissy :) Unfortunately, spouse finds it "tippy"!

(On tire hauling duty, I've got tires/wheels for it but they are waiting on the lift which is waiting on the frame cleanup which is waiting on the bodywork :D)
