expo trailer with motorcycle

I have been planning a expo trailer for awhile now. You know the usually small pull behind with a rtt attached. I had my design pretty well worked out in my head and then I went and bought a dual sport motorcycle. So now I am looking for ideas as to what would be the best way to include the ability to carry a motorcycle? At this point I am really open to any ideas, I might have to scrap my original design or just get a different trailer for hauling the bike. I doubt I would ever want to use the trailer off road with the bike attached but I am trying to keep from having to get 2 trailers. So I am wondering if there is any way to have a "multi use" trailer possibly with several configurations. One configuration for expo, one for hauling the bike etc...BTW my bike weighs lbs.

Not sure what your original trailer design is, or what your tow vehicle is, but how about putting a hitch receiver on the back of the trailer and carry your bike there? You'd have to be sure to load the trailer to compensate for the weight of the bike when you load up. Put your water jugs and other heavy items in the front. And, when you want to take the bike out separately just use the hitch on your truck. There are some really great hitch carrier designs available. I use one to carry my bike or my 3 wheeler, it works great.

Would it work to extend and put a platform up front. This might also help you ad space for more water, fuel, supplies....etc.

both good ideas. I am really worried about weight distribution. If I put the bike in the front or back I would need to compensate for the weight somehow I guess.

It's exackly what I have in mind for rmine to haul my KLR in and I'm thinking of making fold out storage boxes that will carry the kitchen and other supplies in. Or maybe just mount them above the wheel fenders. I want my top rack to pivot up so I don't hit my head on it when I load my bike in there.

I was thinking of just putting a tent over the frame to give me an off the ground sleeping area. The fuel cans and spare will mount on the front tounge like Gilz did his.

The only difference is I'm planning to use a small pickup suspension with air bags that I can steer electrically with a 12 volt jack screw.
I've almost got time to build it. Probably will be my winter project.

I tend to get into some tight places with my 4X4 Expedition Truck.

I'm planning on extending the "A" frame on my 416 and putting a bike rack across the a-frame. This will be on pins as I will only have it on when the bike goes with.. also,, I'm doing a receiver in the back.. When the bike is on the front I will use my receiver mount cargo box for extra storage of the riding gear and to offset the weight.. When I have it done I will post pictures.

My idea is similar to this but make the flat bed portion collapsible into the trailer itself when not needed. Sort of an accordion trailer if you follow what I mean. Make the flat deck removable or hinge it so that it folds as the trailer is collapsed.

Thats a good idea.

I am alittle worried that I will not have enough weight to balance it out back. My bike is really heavy.

Kind of along the lines of my current build. A flat bed trailer to haul 3 large ATVs (so larger then a true expo trailer), or remove the aft center floor and drop in a Pinz 712 box for camping, with 1 ATV inside, and 1 in front of the 712 box. When used as a flat bed, there is extra storage under the floor in the center drop section.

So perhaps a smaller version for your needs?
