The feeling will pass. I had a 2007 GTI so I know exactly how you feel. Good luck with the new truck!

I went with a frontier pro-4x :) My wife says I look better in a truck :smiley_drive: Sometimes I wish I had an xterra just for the fact of it being all enclosed and I like the way they look. But I do love my frontier and am extremely happy with it. The addition of the topper was a must for me... I store all of my recover gear, hi-lift, spare, axe, shovel etc. back there. and with the utilitrac back there it is perfect for mounting all of that stuff up off of the bed.

*** just saw that you bought a fronty lol !!! congrats...enjoy!

All my crap mounted up :) I have an action packer with that snatch strap, and air compressor, jumpers and all that other kind of stuff in it now.

If you don't mind, what kind of topper is that? Looks good on your truck!

Wow! Nice Frontier! And, coming from a Toyota guy, no less!

Can't go wrong with the Frontier.

I've had several trucks and SUVs over the years, including a CC Titan that I loved. Trucks are great for utility reasons and being able to store muddy or nasty stuff outside the cab, but with the family I need to have an enclosed ride with access to the stuff in the back while on the road. Without it you have to stop the truck to access something that was in the truck bed while traveling. Also like to have the ability to lock things inside the SUV. Both are great for their own reasons but SUVs work better for our travel needs.

I do miss having a truck bed for work around the house. Recently built a deck and screened room addition and had to use the Xterra as my truck along with deliveries for the big stuff. Just for the record, with the passenger seat folded forward (lay flat option) you can fit 8' lumber inside the truck with the hatch closed. I used an old blanket spread over the interior as my truck bed!

Seeing Snowman's CC Frontier just might change my mind, though! Great looking truck. Have thought about a cargo box like yours to help carry items that I might normally carry in the truck bed.

Had a 2010 Xterra and loved it until electrical gremlins started showing up and leaving me stranded four times in less than three months. After leaving everyone scratching their heads about what was causing the problem, my dealer helped me out with a trade to a 2012 Frontier CC SV 4x4. I love the truck but miss the X. The X had better rear leg room and I always have loved the look of them, but the Frontier with the Leer shell has way more weatherproof, lockable storage which is important as a Scoutmaster going on monthly Scout camp outs. I added the OEM skid plates for a minimum amount of extra protection, not really being able to justify the cost of Shrockworks for what I will be using the truck for. I would like to do the PRG mini lift when I get ready to swap the OEM tires for something a little more appropriate like BFG ATs or Cooper ST Maxxs. I think you'll really like the truck. Congrats.

I will post some pics when I get back home, but I also have a fronty and the cap changed they truck. I now effectively have a 5 foot long trunk, which I love and if you have a HUGE item that you need to move in your truck, you can still take the cap off a lot earlier then cutting the roof of an xtera :)

Congrats on the purchase! Love that color blue, and though I have an X that I'm not so sure I'd trade for a Frontier; I have to say I like the truck's front-end a lot better than the SUV's ... when I got mine in '08, I didn't know half the stuff about this platform (the X/Frontier/Pathfinder) I do now. If I were doing it all over again, I'd be hard pressed not to start with as bare-bones of a 2wd V8 Pathfinder (R51, roughly same mechanicals as the X/Fronty) as I could find ... then it'd be some coin to PRG & Rugged Rocks, along with custom bumpers and an Atlas to get 4x4.

I agree that Snowman's cap looks great on that four door, but consider a soft-topper as well ... I'm really partial to the way these new-gen Frontiers look with them. Very sharp.

I was in the same predicament about two months ago. Ultimately I went with a '13 Xterra Pro-4X. Every once in a while I think about how I should have gotten the Frontier. I'm not exactly sure why, but my thoughts keep wandering back to having a bed to put dirty things like a deer after hunting, a load a mulch or just putting the mountain bikes in instead of getting a rack. But, realistically I have a 6x8 trailer I can use when needed... and I haven't needed it yet. Overall, I love the Xterra and think I would have been equally happy in the Frontier

As this thread has now moved on to mods...

Anyone have any experience with the Calmini 2.5in lift? :sombrero:

I'm going to start changing stuff before the first payment! hahahaha

Looks great, man! I have owned both - an Xterra Off Road and a Frontier Nismo. I think you made the right choice. I loved my Xterra, but the Frontier is definitely more usable. I have an 07 Frontier with a whole 39k miles on it and no issues so far.

What part of Texas are you from?

About 60 miles west of Fort Worth. We live near Possum Kingdom Lake.
