Extra 33 gal Mitsu Fuel Tank available

Our operation was a success, we replaced our stock 33 gal fuel tank on our FG 4x4 with a 56 gal Isuzu tank. Now we'll like to find a new home for the stock 33 gal tank. Tank and all mounting hardware available. How about $100 to help offset the cost of expedition prep for our West Africa Expedition.

Is the new tank a rectangular one, cylinder, steel, aluminium? I have been thinking about replacing my 2 - 33's with a single so that I don't have to fool with transfer valves and the extra plumbing.

Hiya Bruce.

The new tank is a 56gal rectangular/steel off of an Isuzu/gmc T6500. The brackets needed a bit of modifying and the fuel sending unit doesn't work with the Mitsu, so I've got to put on an aftermarket gauge. I got mine from Niehaus Welding in Iowa, tel: 319-278-4755. Randy sells "take-off" tanks, which are brand new tanks removed from the trucks so that they can do something with the frame?? Not sure what.

If you already have dual tanks I wouldn't bother with changing them out. I didn't have room for dual tanks so my only option was to replace the one with something larger. I still carry 3 septer 5gal fuel cans.

Hey Don, why don't you re-paint the entire frame enamel black so it will look nice and shiny like the tank?

Or would it be easier to distress the tank to match the frame?

Hey Doug,

Thanks for the suggestion, yeah, the tank really stands out right now. But that will change as soon as we can get back on the road and hit it with some rocks and dirt. By the way, the really distressed (rusty looking) areas on the photo are actually the wood spacers the box manufacturer installed.
