F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

I currently have a 2012 F150 5.0 (1st gen for this motor)

2011 was the first year for the 5.0. 20q0 was the new gen body style with the old 5.4. I think you could get the Ecoboost that year as well. Plus of course the heavy iron horse 6.2.

Yes 2011 was first year for the 5.0. 2012 (my truck) also has the first gen 5.0. I believe second gen 5.0 was 2015 with the aluminum body trucks. 2009-2010 f150 was the 12th gen truck but still had the 4.6 and 5.4 engine as options.

Nah... 2005ish? No way.

That's when GM 4l60E's, 4x4 actuators were going out and steering shaft clunks were happening, cam phasers and spark plugs going out on 5.4's Toyota frames were rusting out, Titan's axles were breaking.... Dodges were....Dodges...
And they’re still dodges. I get a chuckle at the commercials when they tout “highest in initial quality.”

Those Cherokees were super problematic in the first few years especially in regards to the 9 speed and the PTU for the rear axle.
Don't know if they ironed it out or not.

Our Cherokee was a 2014. So 1st year but never had any issues with it. Our 2015 F150 is a 1st year design. I'll have had it 5 years in February 2022. I'll hit 200,000 kms next week. Water pump and lead frame in the transmission are the only issues I've had with it in 160,000 kms. ?‍♂️ 1st year designs don't really worry me.

Use forscan to disable start stop or just press the button on the dash everytime you use the truck
In my wife's WK2 the first thing I do when I start it is press disable start stop

Yep that’s what I do. Problem with using FORSCAN to disable the
ASS (yes that’s what it’s called: Auto Stop-Start) is that it disables the BMS too.
