I just bought some Ottertex® Polyester Ripstop (PU) - 8.7 oz, so it's late to ask if anyone has experience with it. Details/specs looked good enough to just go for it. I'm coming from Duck Cloth and want something a bit better...

Really hoping I didn't make a mistake.. I'll know personally next Wednesday.

Anyone have experience with the material?

I used Ottertex Waterproof acrylic 5oz. I have a couple holes where it rubbed but a couple patches fixed that. Personally its too thin for me, but it has held up very well.

Thank you! I do 'feel' it's a bit lightweight yet at 8.8oz... well fingers crossed. Not seeing much difference being yours is also 100% polyester. Hoping the additional weight and weave type will do the trick.

I under bought with the duck cloth and have 4 seams in the wall panels.. This time I only need 1 seam! I bought enough to replace the 'fly' as well (that is just ripstop nylon now).

This time I am eliminating the front windows. In the larger downpours the rain splashes back half way (or more depending) off the cab roof! I am debating the rear windows... Sewing project in my near future!!

I received product yesterday, so Ottertex is great on shipping time!

I hadn't thought about the backsplash. Mine currently has no windows because my machine couldn't handle it. My next iteration i was thinking of 6 windows, but maybe I will only do 5.

I'm down to 4 now. Fronts' gone for reasons told, rear they just don't do much for air and with my lift/brace it really doesn't leave much. I've found when I set the rear fly and it rains it has a tendency to drip onto the outer edge of those windows. They're gone now. I'm down to 2 on each side at ~ 18" x 33". That's just how it worked out, nothing I specifically planned.

Working on the awning for the windows. This time I'm going to put one on. Working at the same idea of what the RTT's do at their windows. Thought is it can deploy easy (I hope), be shade as needed/when needed, repel heavy rain and if needed fold down and cover the window. I'm still going to need night shades inside (I figure), but thinking that doesn't have to be part of the side wall (as my current ones are).

So far so good! Basic wrap/walls are done except for final seam. All 4 windows are screened and I have two of the awning prep'ed (with velcro on the bottom).

The microtech needles will not do the velcro unless you sew at the edge where there is no velcro. God my eyes hurt.. that's a very small edge!
