Falken Wildpeak AT/3W - anyone running them? Opinions?

40k on my WildPeak A/T3W, 265/60R18 XL (my LR3 weighs ~6300lb)
Barely any wear, 5 tire rotation every 5k

Love them - Driven on highway, sand, dirt, rocks, gravel, snow, towing - just no mud experience where I live
Would definitely buy again
That's heavy. My 2007 regcab Ram 2500 w/Cummins 5.9 is 6500#

Was looking at the Wildpeak AT3 but when I was out yesterday exploring some campsites ran into a guy with a flat WP AT3. It's the second time. The shale on the FSR is tearing the tires up so he's going back to TOYO Open Country AT III. Said he needs durability more than snow traction.

Looking at tire weights for my truck (275/65R20)
TOYO = 55lbs
Wildpeak = 34.1lbs
KO2s I have = 58.2lbs

Wildpeak cost more than KO2 here

I was really hoping you were correct because a 40% decrease in unsprung weight would be huge!

The lightest brand tire in every size seems to be Firestone. I’ll be trying them out for my next set because they’re consistently 10-20% lighter in every size for both the atx and at2. Even 10-20% tire weight should help fuel economy, ride quality and handling. Only thing I’m worried about is cut resistance, but like jadmt said, some people get flats, some don’t. I’ve been lucky lately and hoping to keep it that way. We’ll see!

Have many clients running these and they love them. They're damn quiet, and easy to balance (K02's, ha, complete opposite. BFG should make a round tire for the price they charge).
So I was going to go with the Falken's as well, however the lack of a true 3ply sidewall has me concerned. But even more so, the heavy weight of the A/T3W. It's the heaviest I've been looking at, at 82.5lbs for a 37"! No idea why they're so heavy. :(

What tires are you comparing?
The list is long….stock 255/70-17 bfg to toyo at2, at3, rt,mt and cooper st maxx in sizes from 285/70-17, 285/75-17, 295/70-17 35/12.5-17 35/10.5-17 and duratrac 285/70-17 and toyo 35/12.5-17 and i am sure some i have missed all load range from p, c,d and e. Oh and falken at3w in 255/80-17 i have a tire problem….i calibrate my speedometer and tripometer with every tire change.

Beginning of Novemver 2021 four new Wilpeak 275/65R20 went on the the truck. Since then there's been vibration that starts at 65mph.

A Road Force test done today. AFTER all the corrections were made the numbers were 20 , 27, 34, 40......waiting to see what Falken will do.

I’ve had a set of Falken AT3Ws (255/80R17) on for about a month, been off road several times and my opinion thus far is they are relatively quiet and have good road manners but they leave me wanting off road. I’ve been in mud, snow, sand/dirt, and loose pack and they do well enough in the dry stuff but did quite poorly in the mud and snow. They lacked real bite in the stuff which you need bite to pull through. Not worth it for the cost or my particular application. They do great driving up a snowy paved road to mountain where I ski but that’s a plowed road (albeit a slick one). I’d stick them on a Subaru if I had one for local and town driving but I’ll find something else for my truck for off road. There is something impressive in the rubber compound which gives them great traction, I’m impressed with that.

I have a set of p265/75r16's on my stock JK. My off roading is "blue square" rocky muddy fire roads and beach driving. They do great for that use but so would any other decent AT tire. They are great in the snow (on road) -- we just had 25" of snow this weekend and they were flawless. On road they are excellent-- the best AT tires I have owned. Great traction in the rain, very quiet, and they are wearing great. They are perfect for my use. If I saw more mud I'd get something more aggressive.

If you think the AT3W is heavy, try the Baja Boss AT! They are tanks.

that said I have been a big fan of the Falkens til recently. Falken must have changed the compound because the new ones I bought last year suck in the snow and ice where my previous two sets rocked.
I have two 2007 Tundras, a nice one and a beater.
I put the Baja Boss AT's on my beater and they are MUCH better than the AT3W on the other Tundra in the snow. My Tundra with the new Falkens will occasionally get stuck at the bottom of my fairly steep driveway and I can drive around it on my other Tundra with the Baja Bosses, then pull it up the hill.
Other than the weight, the Baja Boss is far superior tire offroad and in the ice and snow. I know because I run them back to back every day.
