I am very satisfided with the saw. My only complaint is the degree dial being a little off. I just slap a speed square on it to get back to 90. As for as cutting it is defiantly worth the money. No more sparks flying everywhere and clean up is relatively easy. I have mine mounted to the end of my welding (junk collector) table.

I've been wanting to build a trailer for some time now. I had to talk the wife out of buying a pop up and get a RTT. With 3 kids we have a tone of stuff we have to pack as you can see in the first picture. We purchased a Mt McKinley from Turtleback trailers here local to me. Took it out for test spin the first weekend we had it. The wife was very impressed and was glad we made the purchase. The trailer started with a $90 3500# dexter axle with brakes I found on CL. I had planned to cut it down to the size I needed but the brakes needed to be replaced. I called a local trailer parts distributer and found they had plenty of options in stock so I bought a new 63" axle with brakes and 6x5.5 pattern to match the Sequoia since that's what we will be in most of the time.

I purchased 2x4, .120 wall tubing for the frame and built a 4x6 lower frame for the base.

Can u take pics or describe how you are sleeping 5 in your RTT. I have a family of 5, too.

My kids are 8, 5 and 6 months and our tent is rated for 4+ so for now we all easily fit. The wife and I have 2 Cabela's Mountain Trapper sleeping bags that lay next to each other and the 2 oldest have 2 full size sleeping bags on the other side. The little one sleeps with mom. We've only used the tent for 2 nights so far because I'm building the trailer (and due to the baby) but it will se plenty of use this year.

Weve done VW vans, tent trailers and are looking into that exact RTT with a trailer.

Hows the trailer on a sequoia (also what we have)?

Pax2525: Because my Dakota is lifted I have a 6" drop receiver for it. I have it inverted to hook it up behind the Sequoia. I'll probably pick up a separate hitch for the Sequoia but for now it works.

TXST8tj: The sides are 32" from the floor of the trailer.

I picked up all the latches and some more steel to start bracing getting ready to skin it. I will be ditching the front box. Not to toot my own horn but after doing such a good job on the rest I think I can tackle building a front compartment myself.

The Sequoia did great with the tent. You can tell its up there for sure. You'll need to get shorter bolts or cut the ones that come with it. The cross bars are close to the roof and as you tighten one bolt the other will start digging in to the roof. Just pay attention when you mount it.

I've only made one trip with it just a few hours north of me. I didn't calculate the mileage because I knew this would be the only trip with it mounted on top the Sequoia. I didn't drive 75+ like I normally due so if I had to guess probably the same as normal even though I drove 60-70.

Axle was placed in the current location so I could access the front doors to pull out the kitchen. As it sits I've bounced on the back to see if would raise up and it didn't. I could feel it trying to but it didn't move. I will be placing a water tank right above the axle so we will see how that works out. I have only pulled it around the neighbor hood 20-25mph and that was before it was this far along. I will get the measurements for you.

I found this spread sheet online a while back, its cool because you can see how the over all dimensions, axle location, and added weight in certain areas effects tongue load etc.

First post here, I subscribed to the forum long ago and read all threads. I like your build but those slides are not meant to be installed that way, best case scenario is that they will bend with the weight.
