FG- mini?

During a recent trip to Bali in Indonesia I saw many FG's on the road.
What struck me was that they were not the same size as what I have seen in the US and elsewhere. They seemed to be about 1/3 smaller!
Does anyone on this forum know if Mitsu produces a smaller version of the FG? If so where can I get the details.

In Indonesia, and elsewhere in Asia, Fuso sells a couple of cab-forward
vehicles that we don't see in USA. The first is the Colt L300, a cab/chassis
that is the basis for the ubiquitous Mitsubishi passenger vans. It's also seen
as a work truck.

The other is called the Colt Diesel in Indonesia. It's a Fuso FE71 (with single
rear wheels) and FE73 (dual rear wheels). Both look like the Fuso trucks we
see in USA, but they are narrower and shorter.

Fuso trucks and Mitsubishi cars are distributed in Indonesia by Krama Yudha

Mitsubishi does make a 4x4 version of the smallest Fuso. Here's one on display
at an auto show in Great Britain in 2008

Hi Chip,

I always thought that truck at the '08 UK motor show was a an FG with a wide rear diff to allow the single wheels to be fitted the same way around. I think it's still the full size FG cab and not the narrow cab version of the 2wd FE. We get those little 2wd's here too. What do you think?

Could be, John. I assumed that with the single rear wheels it was
the smaller model with smaller engine.

I never could find this model on the price sheet for Fuso dealers in UK.
Do you know if the vehicle in the photo was put into production?

Not sure about the Fuso but in Peru Isuzu sold a cab forward truck that was smaller than the NPR. Actually the model I saw about 6 months ago was the last of the Chevy badged ones, Isuzu now sells them under their own name there.

I don't think so Chip. I can't imagine what diff it must be using. The FG106 SWA you posted a pic of the other day must have the standard FG diff with the rear wheels turned around the other way as most SRW conversions are.

As I said before too, I don't think it is a small cab either. This is the only pic I've seen of it and it's a bit hard from the angle to tell.

yeah id have to agree with john. the proportions of the truck in the pic look like a full size FG.

I can't imagine what diff it must be using.

if they did put said FG into production, i think it would have to be a modified version of mitsubishi's own rear axle. nothing else is the right size or weight capability.

Interesting factoid Mitsubishi heavy truck is 80% owned by daimler AG according to that site
