FG649 Owners.

Story Time.
I have a Fg649 that I'm fitting High Speed Transfer Case Gears too for the owner. The case is the same as earlier models other than it has an extra switch mounted near the top on the right hand side. This is on the transfer case and on a 2WD would be on the tail housing. It is activated by the shift rod from 1st/reverse in the gearbox sticking out the rear. In the Manual it is it is listed as "1st/reverse check switch" but doesn't tell you what it does.
Do you know what it does to/for your Canter?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

Dan.

Maybe it is like the neutral switch in my FG84.
The switch is in the off position if the transmission is in neutral.

Okay more looking.
It isn't a neutral safety switch because it is only on the 1st/reverse shift rail. You would be able to start it in any other gear - but I did try. Made no difference.
The switch is normally open and only supplies power to what ever when in 1st or reverse gear. It is shown in my repair manual for the transfer case as "1st/reverse check switch" but is shown nowhere in any of the wiring diagrams in my manuals.
My thoughts are it may supply power to the Electronic fuel control module in the injector pump thereby limiting revs or fuel so the engine can't be over revved in those gears !
Do you notice this in your FG649 ?

That's my thoughts,
Dan.
