I'm just being a smart a.. :ylsmoke: . It looks like something I need to add to my mod list. Have you had a chance to test it in any type of wind yet? It looks like it is free standing in your photos but I assume it has a couple of guy lines as well?

I hear ya...

I haven't tested it in the wind yet. It comes with stakes and lines to keep it from flying away or getting trashed. I figure if it's really windy i won't even deploy it.

Over here, the guys also fit removable side panels so you can shield off sides in any configuration.
Also for the guys that live in the desert areas, some guys fit a water mister. Thin surgical type tubing with small brass fittings with pinholes.
This is rigged up on the edge of the awning so when you sit under it you are surrounded by a very fine mist inside your own outdoor aircon. Uses very little water.:)

Spike, the mister sounds like a great idea if it doesn't take too much time to deploy. Do you have any info or photos on such a system? What kind of pump/water supply are they using?

Since I live in the desert Southwest I have been thinking about the mister that was mentioned. I saw a mister system at a store which has a 3/8 hose on it, I wonder if a pump type sprayer could be hooked to the system and make the mister work? Can any of the folks out there who have a great mind please let me know if I would be wasting time and money?
Thanks,
Steve

Thats similar to mine I think. I use a Shady Boy, designed for VW vans, it was a very well priced unit at $325 shipped for there best model.

I have a 7 nozzle mister that works with a 3/8" hose. I have it connected to a 2.5 Gallon (water) fire extinguisher at 100psi but could also be hooked up to a pesticide sprayer (as long as you can get over 50psi). The mister can go through 2.5 gallons in about 15-18 minutes. It really saved us on one trip when the temperature hit 114 degrees! There is definitely a quality difference in the nozzles. The better quality nozzles will require higher pressure but will also produce a finer mist cloud. You'll get more dripping "wet" with the lesser quality ones. But they all do a great job of cooling.

Do a search for "mister" on the homedepot.com website and they'll have everything you need to build a custom mister set-up. I will probably upgrade mine this year.

Thanks for the input, I will try the ACE sprayer I have and I saw the setup at Lowes and that will give me a perfect excuse to get over towards DQ and get a Blizzard tomorrorw.

Thanks again,
Steve

Mario has a mister set up he uses with his Fiamma awning. The water reservoir is a small beer keg that he pressurizes with a hand pump.

He can tell you more after he gets back from sampling wine from every vineyard in New Zealand (do I sound jealous??).
