Fiamma just let us know that they will be increasing their prices as of the end of March 2011.

If you are look at buying one of these units now would be the time to do it before they increase the price. It looks like pricing will go up 10%.

You can buy the Fiamma awnings, at current pricing, from our Web-Store up to the end of this month.

There are various ways to mount the Fiamma awnings depending on your application. The easiest way is to straight bolt them to a flat surface, such as the roof rack or the side of a shell. We have also clamped them to round bar roof racks using a tube clamp we modify. What is you exact application?

The Fiamma awning does very well in windy conditions, The canvas is tight on the frame so there is no flapping and the base of the legs have holes in them so a tent peg can secure the leg in position. This is the standard way of setting the awning up. If it gets blustery the legs have provision for guy lines to be added (all the parts provided).

Here is a [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdKeabQCbcM"]video of the awning set up[/ame] on a Horizon trailer.

When it comes to awnings, I have to wonder if they left them deployed for a summer in the desert of AZ when they say the material "will not deteriorate". I doubt any material can take it. And then how easy is the material to replace, availability of the material, and cost.

Just thinking out loud.

The Fiamma awnings use a UV treated fabric and we have never had to replace one, so I don't have actual numbers on the cost of fabric replacement. But it can be done. The great thing about Fiamma awnings is they are made in Florida so all the parts are available.

The AZ sun is the harshest on expo gear. Tent covers that survive the sun in Australia and South Africa have a reduced life span in AZ. So for any awning I think it would just be a matter of time as to when the fabric would have to be replaced. For expedition usage where the awning is deployed when camping and then rolled back into the aluminum clam shell when not in use I don't think it's an issue.

We are on our third Fiamma F35 pro. Even owning an ARB, Mombasa and a Hannibal.. it's still my favorite of the bunch and the most versatile.

They're easy to setup, handle wind great (had ours up to 50mph too many times to count) with guy lines out, they rake at an angle if need be for rain/snow and they're just bullet proof. You can mount the legs to a vehicle or to the ground. The material they use for the actual awning is the equivalent to that of an RV awning. The awning is light, i can carry it in one hand and the clamshell case is really nice compared the pouches on the market for others. I dont know what else to say. I'd buy another one in a heart beat.

Oh and we are on our third, not because we had any problems.. just different rigs/setups.

Clamshell color other than the titanium?...

Martyn,

Is there any possibility to get the Fiamma F35 pro in a black clamshell color?

Curious that is all.

The clamshell is aluminum, we have tried "blackening" aluminum before and it's tricky. Some black anodized aluminum turns purple with exposure to sun light. If you like purple that's great :sombrero:

The only other choice is painting or powder coating. I don't think I'd want to powder coat the case as it may interfere with the fitment of the end caps and internal hardware. That leaves painting which is less than ideal, but may work.

Can I get a purple one to match my new purple paint job?

I kid, I kid!

I've wanted one for a long time and they almost never come up used. I won't bother with any other awning besides maybe a hannibal which are rarer then snow balls in Phoenix.
Hmmm, time to decide! :Wow1:
