Finally bought our panel..

Well, since we sold the SMB and went back to the Adventure trailer... i decided to go back to the Solar Panel route vs the generator. (reason I wanted the genset so we could use the 110 outlets in the SMB if need be)

So, I finally picked up my solar panel i've been wanting forever. Thanks to my Amigos at Adventure trailer i received a nice 80 watt 5amp Carmanah with custom easel for ground use. Mario tried to talk me into the new foldable versions, but with our budget right now there's no way. When we travel the panel rides inside the roof top tent. Nice little cushioned storage compartment. With the charge controller we can get 6.6 amps out of the panel. The trailer already had the Shell charge controller so all i needed was the panel. Even with dual AGM batteries on the trailer i've ran them down in 4-5 days 11.2 from using the inverter, lights and running the fridge in triple digit heat. Well now we have more than enough power to sit indefinitely.. or until we run out of frosty beverages :friday:

Next is a charge controller under the hood of the Cruiser so if i need be, i can charge the batteries in it. Just a good $40 investment to have i guess.

Now i just need several weeks off!! LOL :mixed-smiley-030:

:sombrero: Excellent choice, my solar has been flawless and supplied power, going on three years and even did the job when I first used a Koolatron as my cooler

I use the Solar pnl, JUST, for the trailer battery and don't interfer with the vehicle electrical system, so there's never any danger of vehicle battery loss

Having mine MOBILE, I can insure full sun exposure, no matter how many trees we're camped in !!

Nice, I need to look into this again.
Not much room up in my Maggiolina even to lay this down flat, as the bedding takes up space.
If I got one, I would go foldable.

But not sure if I need that much wattage.
All I want to do is have it hooked right up to my main battery which powers the roof top tents inside light and the ARB fridge in the back of my rig.

I have a 2nd battery as backup in case the main one runs down.

So all I need one is to keep the battery topped off while using the two items above.

Very nice, Dave. A handsome install, as always. In fact, I'm kinda pleased to see you back in the business of buying things for "our" truck. I'll bet she loves being "back home." :victory:
