Finding Premium (high octane) Gasoline in Remote Areas

Thanks for the input Dan! Have you had any trouble in the JK? Not that they are particularly picky, but I'm assuming they won't run on really bad fuel.

It has burned everything I have thrown into it so far. I have filled up a couple of times from containers on the side of the road - often they smell like paint thinner, not gas.

Also a couple were cloudy and had nasty black blobs floating around that went into a tank once or twice.

All good so far!

If you can find a diagram of petroleum fractional distillation, you'll see there isn't much difference between them. Not a lot of difference between mineral spirits and kerosene. And kerosene and JP-5

This isn't the diagram I'm thinking of - which showed the splits for a raft of chemicals - but this image conveys the general idea.

There's another diagram out there that shows the approximate ratio of these products out of a barrel of crude.

You will only find regular and diesel in many parts of quebec. Near the cities, no problems, but when you head north of the province, or in small villages that only have 1 gas station with low density population, you will likely only find 87 and diesel. But all of them should have octane bouster if that can help.
