So thus far it's not really been an EXPO type build however the next several things will lean more towards that. I'm about to be the proud owner of a new RTT and changing room, and the swing arm I'm building for the rear bumper is being totally designed around camping convenience instead of my typical rock crawling mindset.

Any and all comments, ideas, or suggestions are welcome! :victory:

Looks great! You have spent alot of time on your truck and it shows! You have everything, but a place to sleep. Once you have that RTT it will be an awesome expo rig!

Thanks! The truck is a great wheeler but it has been a bit of a pain when we go camping with the family (wife, kiddo, and dog) so the RTT and next several mods are focused on making camping easier.

Kevin,

I cant remember much details about your transmission mount. Did you like it? Does it create a lot of vibrations? Is it something you would do again? How does it bolt to the frame? Would you sell it as a kit?

sorry for all the questions....

The mount itself is just a beefed up HD version that is a bolt in replacement. My stock mount had gotten in pretty bad shape and even tried a new mount and was just getting to much play in the drivetrain so I went to the drawing board. The new mount uses poly bushings so it doesn't quite dampen as much as a stock mounts does. AKA there is some noticeable vibration in the truck now but not enough to bother me. It's most obvious when you start letting out on the clutch and the motor bogs down for a second, under normal driving it's barely noticeable. What it did do though was lessen the movement in the drivetrain, even when down in compound low I get very little movement now. For my application I would do it over again in a heartbeat but I'm sure it's not for everyone. The added vibrations may aggravate some but to me it's no big deal.

Now the hi clearance cross member I did is a whole different piece. That is worth it's weight in gold if you ask me. I gained several inches of clearance at it's at a pretty critical point as far as break over is concerned. It works great for me and is actually a fairly easy install however with a stock transfer case it would be pretty much useless since the front output on the tcase hangs so low.

Really nice truck! I'm guessing those speakers are for your radios? What kind of speakers are they? I'm getting ready to do some sort of permanent install of a speaker for my 2m radio, and mounting it in the headliner was my preference.

Correct. One is for the CB and the other for the 8800. I forget the brand name of them but they are just cheap ones from my local truck stop. They work perfect though and are plenty loud enough to hear even outside the truck if desired.

Great looking Tacoma, and lots of hard work went into it.

What kind of tent did you order?
