First aid kit

I haven't seen anything posted here lately about kits, does anyone have a recommended first aid kit that is pretty comprehensive for a vehicle? I always carry small kits but always need extra stuff, I carry a more extensive kit in my backpack but it's harder to get to. Anyone have a recommendation on a great kit that would be size appropriate for the back of the driver's seat or attached to a molle panel? I could build one but it's such a pain in the butt!

I have never found a buy it and go bag, that I liked per say. But I generally build and type my own. That being said, there are some companies that do a good job.

What is your training level? That'll dictate your kit.

We had a basic kit, realized even the basic kit had things I didn't know how to use properly. Both my wife and I did the 2 day wilderness first aid certification class from REI and learned an absolute ton. While there's still things in our FAK that I am not certain I could use properly, I do feel more comfortable about most things in there!

Here is the one we carry

Another vote for "build a kit to fit your abilities and needs".

At the moment, our kit is packed into a Blue Ridge Overland FAK bag, which I like for the large organizational pockets, and supplemented with a cheap MOLLE "boo-boo" kit on the outside. Spending on a good quality bag turns out to have been worth it, because I bought the BROG bag and the cheap MOLLE bag at the same time, and the little bag started turning to dust (and needed replacing) after about 3 years while the BROG bag is still in great shape.

I don't have recent pics, but here are a couple from when I put it together a few years ago:

I agree that everyone needs good first aid training appropriate to how remotely they travel. However, we're often told to carry a comprehensive tool kit even if you don't know how to use it because a good Samaritan may come along that does know how to use the tools to repair your vehicle. Why would not the same logic apply to a FAK?

I have heard this argument a lot. It’s a super complex medical legal issues. With many case studies and legal president to draw from. And has been discussed at length in multiple threads.
The short answer, is licensed individuals are not protected by the good Samaritan law. Its lesson number 2, in every EMT/Medic class ever.

Since it’s my liability, and my risk. I am not going to trust random gear that has been sitting in someone’s rig in all temperatures for who knows how long, not to mention having to waste time digging through their gear and trying to understand their packing/ organizational system.

Example: If I use say a TQ that breaks, that was expired; off brand, etc I am at fault.

Is it really that complex an issue? If you are not a Dr, EMT or paramedic and you are trying to render aid , the Good Samaritan laws will protect you unless you are doing something way outside any basic training that you may or may not have( amputate a limb, tracheotomy with a pen etc)

I'll grab anything from anyone's rig to get a job done if it's an emergency, but I am well trained and carry my own gear, just looking to see if there's any solid kits out there 👍

Thanks man fantastic! Yeah it's a big deal to build a kit, but it's probably the only way to ensure getting everything

Sweet I bet that's exactly what I'm looking for! I do carry an adventure med kit for dirt biking and I've had to use it many many times, good kits

My understanding is that EMTs are legally obligated to provide immediate medical care in emergency situations. They are also expected to adhere to the scope of practice for their state or county. Non-licensed persons are generally protected by good Samaritan laws. If I'm being naive I'd like to know why. I have difficulty understanding how you could let someone bleed out because you weren't sure where/when the TQ was made.
