First gen Tundra access cab - carseat?

First gen owners, how well does a car seat fit in an access cab? I am 5'10, and would like to be able to keep the seat at a "normal" driving position and still fit a car seat. Currently an infant seat, will obviously change as she grows. Opinions?

We bought our Tundra AC right before our daughter was born. The infant seat fit fine in the middle and allows both seats to be pushed all the way back, but you can't recline them all the way. We drove from FL to OBX with her when she was 6 months and nobody complained, we even had a 60lb lab back there with her.

She's now 2 and sits in a convertible seat. She still sits in the middle mostly but on occasion we put her behind the passenger seat. With her in the middle my wife can recline all the way to nap. I've tested the same seat forward facing and I think once she's able to, there will be ample room for her, not to mention when she gets to a booster.

I don't think you could put a rear facing anything behind the drivers seat and be comfortable, I'm 6" and can't. I also think you'll be really crammed with more than 1 kid back there.

Here's a picture with her infant seat:

Here's the convertible seat we have now (Maxi-Cosi Pria 70):

*The Pria 70 was the smallest front to back convertible seat we could find when in the rear facing position.

TLDR; an infant car seat fits in the middle, as they grow you will get more and more room back.

Had the same issue and resulted in trading out my old AC Tundra. Our first kid rode behind the passenger seat (passenger knees up in the dash) and couldn't imagine doing the same for the driver with number 2. Actually had the same carseat you got rid of. We couldn't get the straps to reach the side connections for the "latch" system - they are actually supposed to be only for the passenger/driver's side seats (not the middle) if you look in the manual, as I recall. That made us nervous. You are stuck for a few years with someone uncomfortable. Had my first been bigger we might have have switched her to forward facing earlier...

Thanks guys. This is a third vehicle for us, would not be our primary family transport. Just enough to pull a boat to the lake and haul to a campground. Considering other options (sequoia, 4R, LC, etc), but wasn't sure if I should write off the Tundra as a nonstarter or not. Appears it can work with some limitations. Thanks for your help.

I bought my 01 new in Sept of 01. Its been an amazing truck. Kids hit the family starting in 06 and now with 3 kids and one at 10 I picked up an 05 DC this summer. SO MUCH better space wise for hauling kiddos around... The AC Cab will work until the kids hit 5 or so and then it will start getting small real fast. IMO. Now I need to sell my 01 and its hard to part with that thing.. so many good memories and these are such solid trucks. :)
