Fj60 transmission/tcase spacer

I have two transmission / tcases one with a 4" cast iron spacer and another one without.

I dont know where the ine without the spacer came from. Boyj tcases are split cases.

The one without the spacer is from an early model 60 or very late model 40. The one with the spacer will take a 5 speed very easily; the one without is more difficult.

In other countries the 5 speed started showing up in about '84/85 ish. The spacer makes the 4 speed exactly the length of the 5 speed so they would only have to make one set of driveshafts, one frame cross member location, etc... The change is in I believe 8/1985 if I remember correctly? This is what makes the later FJ60s a little better if you're doing your mods slowly for example a 5 speed behind your 2F...

cheers, a
