Flip-Pac Rebuild

My daughter has purchased a Flip-Pac and now finally has a long bed truck. Shell is mounted and we have finally been able to open it. I'm hoping I can track down info/schematics on these things. Looking at it and seeing how it opens, the stress applied to the fiberglass. My first thought is an aluminum frame along the interior of the top to distribute load. How difficult is it to separate the tent from the top and the lid from the shell? If anyone has any guidance, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

These actually have a steel superstructure underneath of them and then the fiberglass is molded around them.

A lot of people have given up on the torsion bar when they break and use gas shocks mounted externally.
