Food storage in Bear Country

It's important to have bear proof locks as well as a cooler.

The locks I got only require a push button to operate. I got my locks from

bearbolts.com

There are no loose parts to lose and no keys.

I also lock the cooler to a tree with a bike cable so the bear doesn't "roll" it away like a toy.

If you are camping with a couple other groups just place a couple snickers bars under their rigs and make sure you park at least 100 yards away. Problem solved.

I keep anything scented in a bear canister about 100 feet from camp, including snacks like goat whey protein I mix into a shake bottle. I’ve found even powdered stuff can attract attention, so better safe than sorry. My cooler stays locked with a bear latch, and any wrappers or trash go into a scent-proof Opsak before getting stashed. Haven’t had any issues so far using that setup.
