Food storage in Bear Country

It's important to have bear proof locks as well as a cooler.

The locks I got only require a push button to operate. I got my locks from

bearbolts.com

There are no loose parts to lose and no keys.

I also lock the cooler to a tree with a bike cable so the bear doesn't "roll" it away like a toy.

If you are camping with a couple other groups just place a couple snickers bars under their rigs and make sure you park at least 100 yards away. Problem solved.

I see it's been a while since you've posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone's tried using a bear-proof cooler for dry food storage too, not just perishables? I’ve been thinking about switching to one for simplicity, but not sure if the smell-proof claims hold up over time. Also curious if anyone’s had issues with bears checking out rooftop tents because of food smells inside.
