For those of you with suspension seats...how do you deal with seat belts?

I see that the most common low travel suspension seats don't have integrated seat belts. Looks like they depend on the standard belt mounts. Are these sufficiently comfortable, or do the seats and their travel create issues? Has anyone mounted seat belts directly onto the suspension base?

Has anyone installed a compact forklift air suspension seat from KAB? I saw the seat belts are attachedKab_compact_air_cloth_20636.jpg. Kevin

with the limited travel in the suspension seats I have in FG649 the seat belts have only been a problem a couple of times. In some circumstances they progressively tighten and the inertia reel locks them. Low on my priority list.

I had a Kab truck seat in my RB44, the seat belts were anchored to the floor. I never had a problem being as the seat spent most of its time at the top of its travel, and onlly compressing under shock loading, so the seat belt loosened. The RB44 is certainly not the most compliant ride either.

In a UTV or rock buggy, the solution is either a lap belt (similar to above) or five point harnesses. Since commercial trucks are not required to have things like air bags, nor are they required to meet passenger car/light truck crash test standards, I might be inclined to go the harness route.

+1, not an issue here either. Given the limited headroom of the Fuso I could argue that it is better to have the seatbelt acting as a bump stop than the top of your head. :)

Well, I guess I'll find out. I picked the seats up from the dock today. I'll dig into them over the next week or so.

I used Beard and Mastercraft suspension seats in my Bronco for many years with standard 3 point belts without any issues. Never any issues with comfort and I felt they restrained me properly.

We are in luck with the FUSO and Isuzu .
They use a particular type of seat belt ratchet tension system that can be used with spring suspension type seats. Fuso recently started to offer a BASIC suspension seat as standard equipment in some countries for the FG.

Not completely new for them. I have Fuso suspension seats in my 2003. I assume they have made improvements since then.

The buckle is mounted to the Stratos on mine. Yes, Fuso did offer suspension seats on earlier models. If you look hard enough on the net you can find them for sale on some websites but they aren't actually available.

Interesting! Thanks for the info, EC. I was actually thinking about integrating a limiting strap element between the seat frame and the body mount, and then attach the lap belt to the seat points. I'm sure that would work fine, but it sounds like it's a non-issue from the feedback of more experienced folks. Thanks all. Of course, proof will be when they're installed, so I guess I'll see if it works for me. If they don't, several different ways I can approach it. I'll keep the build thread updated.

ETA: Well, just unboxed the first seat base. National supplies two pieces of webbing that attach between the stock belt attachment points and the new seat, which has its own belt attachment points. So they did exactly what I was thinking about doing....included in package. Yay, go me, woot. Less work for me.
