Ford’s new 6.8L V8

I've never driven either but, both look like nice trucks. Would you be looking at an F250 Tremor or F350 Tremor? I think that's one thing the Tremor has over the PW is the extra payload. But, it does sound like the PW would be better off road...

If it were me, I'd probably lean to a F350 tremor w/ the 7.3L and factory winch and call it done.
The f250 and 350 tremor have the same suspensions, I’d go for the 250 for many reasons. The power wagon has advantages off-road, it’s slightly shorter, has a front locker, disconnecting sway bar and a very flexible suspension. If you need room and want to haul heavy stuff into remote areas the tremor works great.

Not the Ford yet. Not any Tremors around here.
Pending a test drive, I’ll probably go with the Tremor unless I can find the PW for cheaper. But dealers are quoting $68k for the PW with base options. Yikes.
I haven’t inquired about the F250 Tremor yet but online build was $59k. It’d be ready to go with 35’s and all (I’d want at least 35’s for the PW).
Take in mind with the 7.3 tremor, you will get a push rod forged internal v8 with no active fuel management, no auto stop start, no electric fan, 8 spark plugs, simple easy to find 5w30 oil and no dial shifter on the dash.

If you really want to off road... get the shorter wheelbase Super Cab @ 148". You can add the factory rear locker to any trim (it's FAST and works 2wd or 4wd without stopping). 4.30 gears (these are thick cut HD gears - perfect for 37s). Add aftermarket front locker; lots of options for HP Dana 60. You'll have a more HD truck with better components than the Power Wagon.

Power Wagon wheel travel is pathetic. I wouldn't deal with the complicated coil rear suspension for its poor hauling and travel performance. It drives slightly better empty compared with a stock Super Duty; however a Super Duty on Carli suspension would dominate it on/off road.

I'd bypass the Tremor cost. Get Carli Suspension with Deaver Leaf Springs. You'll have more travel and better ride than the PW or Tremor. Ditch the front sway bar. You don't need it with tuned suspension. Power Wagon is a cool idea but in reality it isn't turn key and performance isn't exactly jaw dropping; seriously our "work truck" super duty had 33s factory.

7.3L would be my engine of choice if buying new (as the 6.2L is no longer). However, finding a used 6.2L is a solid choice too.

I’d opt for the 250. The AT Habitat is fairly light and I’d appreciate the less stiffer ride (I’d assume that’s the case). I actually would be ok with the PW payload as well. Habitat is 340lbs. With the 5 of us and supplies, 1,200lbs is sufficient.

I’m still going back and forth. I love the looks of the PW and the fact it’s locked front and rear. I’m near Moab so it’d be great to have such a capable truck.
But love the 7.3L over the Hemi and the fact I can go 37’s without having to resort to a swing out bumper/Rigd (which I will not do).

250 Tremor and 350 Tremor have the exact same suspension. Same leaf packs and coils up front. The only thing that changes is the coils whether gas or diesel. 250 or 350 makes no difference. Door sticker is higher on the 350 though.

I’ve seen a few tremors in my area. I would guess it’s close to a 10:1 ratio in favor of diesel. I will check Ford out for my next purchase.

Definitely a big plus for the Ford. Much to like about every point you made.

Supercab is a no-go with 3 kids. And would love to someday mess with a complete suspension overhaul, but I don’t have time to do that and I like the fact the Tremor is backed by warranty.

Didn’t know what. I’m sure something’s gotta be different to earn a different weight rating.

Yeah the door sticker and emblems. That's it's. Ford has derated certain F250s for a long time. Not all F250s are identical to F350s but some are. Tremors are all the same.

Huh, interesting. Any reason to go with one or the other? I did a quick Build/price on both (added only the Tremor pkg). F350 was $1k more.

Non Tremor trucks have differences as standard equipment, but you can option a 250 the same as a SRW 350. Tremor 250 and 350 are identical. 250 is just derated.

FYI the 2017+ Super Cab is nearly the same dimensions as the 2016 and older Crew Cabs. It's funny as all our growing up we got stuck in the back of a 90s extended cab and never complained... and there was no rear door and cramped. Just saying.

There's really nothing to gain with the warranty. It's springs and shocks. You can easily have any shop install. It's a day project. However the handling is night and day different.

That's up to you. When we were shopping for our truck it seemed like F350s held their resale better but I imagine any Tremor will hold its resell very well. Some states only register trucks over 10,000 GVWR as commercial which can get expensive. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're not in one of those states so it's not something to worry about. Honestly these days I'd get whatever you can find ?

That's always my first thought people talk about needing tons of room for kids. The things my parents used to shoehorn us in was impressive. That being said I don't have kids so I try to keep my mouth closed. I will say we have done multiple five-six hours stints with buddies over 6 ft tall in the back of my supercab. They're always amazed by the room and comfort.

The supercab is surprisingly roomy, but I don't think it's remotely close to the prior generation crew cab. The 2016 crew cabs had 42.1" of rear legroom, the 2017+ crew cabs have 43.6" and the 2017+ super cab has 33.5" of rear legroom. Pretty much a nonstarter if you need to fit car seats.
