This is the second belt driven vacuum pump failure on my 2006 Ford E-350 6.0. As far as I know the first failure was the original pump at 135,000 miles and the pulley ceased and shredded the serpentine belt. I was out of state and had a shop in MA replace it with a NAPA unit. One year and a half later at 155,000 miles the new pump failed. Lost brake boost and the pump sounded like a machine gun. The pulley was fine though. I was close to home so replaced it myself with another NAPA unit and made sure there was oil in it before installing. Photos show the back side was blown out and the hose torn. The new unit is next to it for comparison. Not sure how they are related or how this happened 1.5 years after replacing. It is a pain to replace on a van so hoping the new unit will last longer. Anyone have similar issues or ideas to de-risk this failure mode?
