Ford E-Series Full Floating Axle Upgrade with Roll Stability Control?

I have some 2009 Ford E-series vans. I added a full floating rear from a cutaway van under my regular wheel base cargo van. The axle is approximately 2-1/2" wider on each side, and was plug and play on the cargo van.

I was happy with the upgrade, so I sourced another for under my extended wheelbase passenger van (both vans are 2009).

What i did not realize is that the cargo van was not Roll Stability Control (RSC), while the passenger van is. What this means is that the passenger van has a tone ring and ABS sensor on each side of the axle near the brakes.

I was under the impression that all the vans after 2009 had the RSC system, so I happily dropped off my van at the mechanics along with a 2015 Single Rear Wheel (SRW) dana 70 out of a cutaway van. I found out two things at the same time: a) that that the cargo van I have been driving with the cutaway axle does not have two rear tone rings and sensors as I had believed (not a problem) and b) that the axle I tried to have installed under my RSC passenger van needs two tone rings and sensors to function with the Roll Stability Control system in the van (problem).

I was hoping someone would be able to help me find some information on either the availability of RSC cutaway van axles or a work-around for installing tone rings to function with the RSC on the dana 70 I have now.

What was on the dana 60 semi-floating axle that came on the van:IMG_20220707_161213~3.jpgIMG_20220707_161227~2.jpg

Are there Dana 70 cutaway van axles that have these parts? Are they installed on the hubs? on the axle shafts? Am I out of luck here?

I would like to upgrade the axle, but I don't want to lose the RSC.

Thanks for any help.

My 2014 doesn't have RSC either on a Dana 70 rear axle.

F-250 axles have them. I'm not sure what it would take to get that axle to work. Probably a lot of extra parts, and would cost more than just getting a different axle.

In 08 all E series got the same front ABS sensors, cargo vans didn't get RSC until 2011.

For that pass van you'll need a FF D60 from a 2008 E350. They're rare but they do exist and have the tone rings on each hub.

Thank you, I guess the search begins again. Upside is there are far more Dana 60 differential traction options than Dana 70.

With the 2008 full floating axle, is the common method changing the tone rings from the 2008 version 60 tooth to the 2009+ version 54 tooth, or do you modify the input signal digitally from the existing 2008 axle to play nice with the 2009+ RSC?

Also, does any other Dana 70 (Chevy, dodge, f-series, etc.) have hubs with tone rings that can be used on the cutaway van axle, even if it's not 54 tooth?

True. No need to change or swap anything as long as the FF D60 came from a passenger van.
