+1 on LED trucklites. Lighting fixed. Weak wiring fixed. No need for aux. lighting now.

Little pricy though.

Not great of the lights, but. This is from last week.

I got tired of the output from the composite XLT housings even with a set of HID bulbs. I upgraded my 02 E350 V10 Traveler to a true bi-xenon HID setup that works awesome and provides a much needed dose of light output and styling to the otherwise boring front end. With a 35w 5000k HID H1 bulb they are just as bright as a newer car and have a brilliant cutoff line to keep oncoming traffic happy at night.

Looks interesting. Can we get a link for specs/price?

All of the items can be purchased from ebay. The setup has to be custom assembled since nobody makes anything similar in the aftermarket. I took a set of standard replacement lights and corners and removed the lens with a heat gun (oven works well also). The projectors are standard H1 mini bixenon units that have threaded shafts and install in place of the stock 9007 halogen bulb. The hi/low function needs to be dealt with since these vans turn off the low beam when the high beam is turned on. Harnesses exist to make the low beam stay on; this is necessary since the low beams need to stay on since they power the HID bulbs. The high beams are operated by a shield that moves out the way by a solenoid (operated by the high beam switch). The rest of the installation is relatively simple and involves gluing the lens back on the housing with butyl window tape.

Project parts:

Replacement headlamps (not necessary if you have the clear 08-up composite lamps)
H1 mini bixenon projector housings with shrouds (gatling in my example)
H1 35w HID kit
3M Window Weld 1/4" butyl tape

Check out hidplanet.com for more details about the process

Cool, thanks! This looks like a good option to me. No dash in Hidplanet.com , btw

Call me old fashioned, but I'm reluctant to give up my glass lenses. I desperately want some new headlights for my van. The LED Trucklites look tempting. I have the stock 5 x 7 and they suck. I live in the Pacific NW and all the rain that we get picks up dirt and grit when driving on the freeway that ends up constantly sandblasting plastic and polycarbonate lenses. I know they're old technology, but I'm considering trying a higher watt H4 with new lenses and harness from here.....

I'm currently looking at some LED bulbs. Reviews say they are better than HID set ups and can get a pair for under $100 off of eBay. High reviews on Amazon, a good price, and an easy install is selling me.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=221496835793

I installed a nearly identical set on my van (02 e350 with factory composite lights). They are very bright and the pattern is such that they don't piss off other drivers on the road but it is also not a very good pattern... A lot of light is thrown down in front of the vehicle. It's good for city driving and trails but I find that I can easily out drive the lights when I'm on the highway at night.

I plan to add an LED lightbar that is tied into my high beam circuit to help them out for night highway driving.

Thanks for the insight, always good to hear from someone with the same vehicle and there take. I recently just added a LED light bar, so this might be a good option for me.
Thanks again.
