I'll need to look Into it further sometime. If the truck was on level ground could an angle finder be used to measure the castor angle off the knuckles or the ball joint? I know it wouldn't be exact, but there is also an acceptable range. Its startling too, alot of those guys prefer title of "Tech". If they only understood its derogatory implication... Lol. But fair enough, Alot of those guys wont rise above anyway.
Anyway, Diy caster measuring is not really difficult, its just difficult to describe in writing.
Basically set the vehicle to its desired levelness. Then needs careful measuring from a fixed point to various points on the steering components. Then ’crunch the numbers..
Does anyone know the recommended castor angles for an E350 dually for North America. Any alignment guroos? I'm aware there are factory specs and then specs that'll perform well in the real world.
Mine should be within factory specs, it is a joy to drive, it tracks perfectly, and all... but it's eating the passenger side front tire. The tire shop seemed to think it was pretty normal, but the driver's side has almost no wear, and the passenger side is starting to "roll over". Other than swapping them side to side is there anything to change? I've got a collection of bushings if more passenger castor would help... but the wheel is centred and it tracks well despite uneven roads... so my instincts say to leave well enough alone.
