Ford E350 Fuel tank interchange

Does anyone know how a fuel tank from a 2000 E350 differs from a later one (say 2005)? They have different part numbers but I can't find any information about how they may have changed. Thanks for any help.

2000-2005 should be the same as far as the sending unit is concerned, both are bolt in. Gas vs diesel will be different though, mainly in the vent location. Some vent right next to the fill, some vent off the sending unit. What are you trying to do?

I don't think my fuel tank is going to make it through another northern winter. I am starting to source a new gas tank and all I can seem to find at the local salvage yards are later model vans.

There are some aftermarket replacement tanks available for a good price, can't remember the name but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Chris,

When you modify your tanks do you add a coating to the inside to cover the raw steel? I found a rust free diesel tank for next to nothing that I plan to add a vent to. Thanks for your help.
