Ford or Ram?

Seems to be across the board from everything I've heard and my personal experience. My truck stickers for 55300.00 and I'm paying 52300.00 and they'll subtract whatever rebates are in at delivery so it should be around 50. Some guys have done better, some worse. I imagine come spring time when the lots are full it'll be back to bigtime discounts.

You should be able to get a fairly good discount off of that MSRP, especially towards the end of the year and maybe beginning of 2017. But the options on the F350 looks right on. Be careful with the factory bed liner. I had my dealer do it and they did a crappy job. And I don't like the texture (too rough and grippy). Wish I would've gone to a Linex dealer.

Yeah I was hoping to get the dealer to drop the price by 3 or 4K. I'd really like to get out the door for about 43k.

Thanks for the tip on the bedliner. Ford wants $500 for it so it's not like it's cheap. I might be better off getting the truck without it and then figuring out what I want. I might even be happier with a nice-fitting drop-in liner.

If you are on the fence. Go drive one, there is just something about the raw grunt of the diesel that has taken over for me. I actually still like my truck more and more as time goes by, and it has been a couple years now. Every time I drive any gas truck now it is kind of a "meh" experience compared to a diesel. It just feels wimpy when you are used to 800+ft/lbs of torque.

Lol, I don't doubt that is true. If I'm being completely honest, part of the reason I haven't driven a diesel yet is because I know I'll like it and want it, but I really don't need the extra performance and certainly don't want the extra cost. Just trying to let logic have a bigger influence on the decision than emotion.

I was actually pretty impressed with the 6.2l. Felt a lot like the V-10 in my Excursion, but in a lighter truck. That makes sense when you check the numbers; torque and HP between the 6.2 and 6.8 are pretty similar but the 2017 F-250 is probably 1000# lighter than my Excursion. I don't plan on towing heavy; just hauling a lightweight slide-in. So once I add in the lower 4.3 axle ratios I think I'll be perfectly happy with the performance of the 6.2......as long as I never drive a PSD or CTD, at least :)

You definitely should test drive the diesel versions. I personally don't see the appeal, even the old Ram 5.9 diesel manual that my old neighbor has. But some people just love it. You may find you love it as well.

But either truck will take you to places you need to go. Regardless of what's under the hood.

The factory spray liner from Ford is not that good, and it is delayed shipments due to demand. They use a chemical adhesion on top of finished paint, no sanding like the aftermarket vendors. Plus ford paints over everything kinda cheapens it.

Drive one. I was going crazy with all the numbers and maintenance costs, and all the things you are. I finally just went and drove a GM, Ford and Ram 3/4 ton diesel. I came home that day and scratched every single 1/2 ton gas truck off my list. If you discover you are a diesel person, like I did, then all the tiny little numbers fade away and it becomes a comparison of what truck will work best for you and supports the aftermarket mods that you will want. Even though I was a die-hard GM fan, the aftermarket parts just didn't compare to what ford/ram has. The ford issues with the CP4 pump scratched it off my list, and then I wandered outside of the city a bit and scored an insane deal on a brand new ram 2500 with the 6.7, sub 40k. Didn't even hesitate. Still have 0 regrets.

I have yet to find a bedliner that compares to linex. Rhino is ok, but the linex stuff is just something else. I am thinking real hard on putting linex around the entire exterior of the vehicle at the moment.

I'd really think long about it. It's kinda like getting a tattoo on your face.

LOL, I agree with that. I once did it on a 4x4 van down low around the wheel wells which worked well since it was impossible to keep the tires from rock chipping the paint. Did use Line X it seems to be the best IMO.

Well, I finally made it to the Ram dealership. Drove two 2500's - a 2016 diesel and a 2017 6.4.

The 6.4 was nice, but I don't think it felt quite as responsive as the 6.2 F-250 that I drove a few weeks ago. That's the opposite of what I've seen most guys write about the two. Maybe these were geared differently. The 6.4 Ram felt plenty powerful but just not as snappy as I remember the 6.2 Ford being.

The 6.7 CTD......HOLY CRAP. First time I'd ever driven one. Let's just say I now understand why some guys love their diesels so freakin' much.

Haven't driven a PSD yet and I don't think I'm going to bother, because if I decide on the diesel it's almost definitely going to be a Ram simply because around here, it's a lot easier to get a good deal on a Ram than a Ford. There are dealerships in my area selling new Tradesmen CTD's for the same price as similarly-equipped XL/XLT 6.2 F-250's.

The Cummins is very seductive. Did it have the Aisin tranny?

This was a 2500. The Aisin is only an option on the 3500 I thought?

Seductive.....yes. That is a good work to describe the Cummins. Very satisfying and fun to drive.

My bad, I forgot that. My only experience with the Cummins is with the Aisln they make a great combo.

Prices are similar here also. I can get a decent tradesman diesel for the same as a gas ford. Makeso you wonder why though??

This dealer is pretty close to me. Saying $37K.

Yeah you cant touch a similiarly equipped Ford for that price. Makes you wonder if one uses higher quality materials, or whats going on?
