Ford Raptor for Overlanding

Nice pictures. After buying and driving a Tacoma for a few months, I sold it late last year in favor of another F150. Mainly because I have kids and they felt really cramped in the back of the Tacoma. With a slight lift and 33" tires, there aren't many trails I can't tackle. As much as I liked the Tacoma, exterior size, capability, looks...honestly, I like the fullsize trucks better. I feel much less tired on trips, as does the rest of the family, and truth be told, all "trails" I used to go on can almost all be tackled in the F150 (those crazy cliff shelf roads in CO may be questionable). Raptor would be even better and more fun. Although for payload, I am sticking with the F150. And maybe even F250 Tremor or PW later in the future.

Guess I’ll be testing those out next week as I’ll be down in Ouray/Telluride area for the week. With my jeep not being wrapped up yet, I’ll be forced to take my f150 since I cant steal my wife’s GC trailhawk because she’s not comfortable driving my big truck.
It’s a 2017 lariat fx4 supercrew, 3.5 EB, 35s and 6” lift. At least the 360 degree cameras I installed will come in handy so I can make sure I don’t go off the edge! I dont carry gear in my truck though as I have an offroad camper for that that’ll be setup as my home base for the week.

I saw one of the TFL videos on youtube where they took a Jeep up Blackbear and they had a Raptor behind them. It started out with them saying that this was no place for a Raptor and that it was the wrong truck to have but then, after making it down the staircase, the Raptor showed up and made it down as well. At that point, he took it all back.

Obviously not saying the Raptor is the best truck for this kind of stuff (it's absolutely not) but it clearly can do it.

Yikes--best of luck! I'm sure you'll be fine, but just go slow and take your time. Wouldn't mind some video footages as you go down the steps and switchbacks. :) I have yet to see a full vid footage on youtube. Some guy many years back in a Ram 2500, but only showed the easier parts. The video linked above doesn't really show the Raptor going through anything hard, either.

It may not show anything but they weren't there to film it. That being said, what it does show is the fact that a Raptor can make it over Blackbear (which, in my opinion, would be something "hard").

Not really technical, or hard, per se, down Black Bear. Just lots of puckering. I made it in a completely stock Tacoma with 31" tires. Raptor with 35's and all that ground clearance, I'm sure it won't be a problem. But just watch them ledges.

Also, I meant to say above, full SIZE TRUCK vid footage on youtube.

Raptor Apologist.
I just did 3300 mile trip around the East Coast and into Canada using mostly back roads... you can definitely overland a Raptor. Lots of great places to camp, especially in West Virginia, Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Ontario.
