Ford Superduty Tremor "off road" 2020 F250/F350.

I would have rather seen a Highboy, but you have to admit this is probably perfect for 90% of people who have power wagons. I doubt most PWs are used even remotely to their potential.

...and dechromed, black wheels, painted flares

It's exactly what a lot of people have built in the last few years.

That's harsh. What would Ford have to do to impress you?
I'm a total Ford Fanboy and will prob drool over this truck and test drive it and contemplate buying it..... but you have to admit he has somewhat of a point....

To call it a power wagon competitor it needs to be more. This is like the Ram Rebel being called a Raptor Competitor. Not quite.

Again, I love Ford and love this truck but I feel Ford could have done something more. Something more unique like a different/unique suspension or a true front locker. Hell, even shocks that look purpose built for the truck.

Just my opinion

This article has more info.

Thanks for the link. I hate droning videos.

Nice.

But my opinion is the same with it, as the Powerwagon. I'd rather build it myself. Many of us have. Looks like a leveling kit, shocks, front diff, and 35's. Ford Super Duty off road starter pack. Lolz.

It might be smart, that they left off, the winch. Warns bumpers and winch for the new SD's, are tough to beat.
It'll be interesting to see how they price it to compete against the DIY approach. Going with the front LSD was smart, since adding one yourself is a little more complicated than the usual bolt-on lift parts, and it may tip the scales in favour of the Tremor for someone shopping.

Smart OEMs know how to bundle their wares to point buyers where they want them to end up. When I purchased my truck, I paid extra for the OEM rear locker and the ABS-derived traction system. There were other benefits to the trim package, but those were the ones that really counted. I could've added a rear locker myself, but didn't want the hassle; there's no direct DIY equivalent to the traction system.

On the bumper + winch, they could easily partner with an aftermarket supplier and make that a Tremor-only add-on package. Iirc, Jeep has done something similar with the Rubicon & Warn. Once a buyer has committed to the Tremor, a few more thousand on the loan for a proper bumper & winch is an easy decision.

I don't consider it lame. Offers the locking diff and limited slip diff package, plus additional traction control modes, 1.5" lift with 35" Duratracs on 18 inch wheels, increased shock size and capacity. 13K towing capacity compared to 10K for the Power Wagon. Available in any trim package, not stuck with a high end trim like Dodge. Ford for sure fired a shot at Dodge with it. Time will tell. No need to complain about no winch because first thing most owners do after lifting a vehicle is some type of winch bumper. The field is wide open on bumper selection and winch brand.
A smart dealer will offer a variety of dealer installed bumpers and winches.

I will bet money those improved shocks are made by Fox for Ford considering they supplied Raptor shocks.

Want to see how the front diff reacts to the traction control. Have been wanting to see what modern TC and a Truetrac will do. How well does it lock up whem the TC brakes the spinning wheel?

If it works like it should then no more two foot driving a Truetrac. Did you noticed it also said off road crawl cruise control? I want to see how that works out.

I see room for improvement, but I'm sure Ford already ran the studies & numbers to support where they ended up.

Ford may have thought that a true front LSD would be more useful in this application than a full locker. I tend to agree.

On the suspension, anti-sway bar disconnects would be a good idea. A wheelbase this long needs all the help it can get with articulation, and OEMs can produce a disconnect system that actuates from a button in the cab. That's another selling point for a Tremor over DIY.

How good is the OEM skid plate system? Probably room for improvement there, and OEMs have the tech to use high strength steel to offer lighter skids with the same level of protection as heavier aftermarket systems. Another bonus for Tremor over DIY.

I'm sure the shocks are tuned to the truck, but I think OEMs are missing a huge branding opportunity on shocks. Average Dude may know little about trucks, but when he sees the flash of Fox under a Raptor, it gets his attention. Ford already has a relationship with Fox, so why not work with them to create a package for the Tremor? There's enough to differentiate the Raptor & Tremor, and the money goes into the same pot.

My guess is that traction control is cut to the front wheels when under power so the LSD can do its job. This has the added benefit of keeping the front bakes cooler for actual braking.

There's a one wheel peel program, to the TC.

It'll brake the spinning wheel until you can smell the pads roasting on my 2017. But it cuts throttle a bit as well when it happens. You have to keep the throttle pinned.

The more front brake applied, the more the LSD should lock. Did they mention if it's a clutch style or worm gear diff?

It works pretty well in other makes. Once ABS is on board, utilizing it as a traction aid is just a matter of tuning a control system, and Ford has had years of experience with that, just like every other OEM gained while developing ABS-derived stability systems.

The PW is still available as a stripped down tradesman/ST.

This Tremor is aimed at the 90% of PW owners who don’t use all of the PW off road capability. Just looking at the new tremors towing and payload specs it will be very close to the do everything well truck vs the more focused PW. Just that it is offered with a diesel shows that ford wanted a more well rounded truck.

It remains to be seen how well the new traction control system addresses stupid.
