Found Camera Butte Valley-Death Valley National Park

I found a camera in Butte Valley on a recent trip and would like to get it back to the owner. It looks like trips from the Sierras, Moab, and socal deserts. If anyone recognizes people or vehicles please let me know via PM. Mods if you think this thread would work better somewhere else feel free to repost and/or move it.

Thanks.

Man they have good taste in jeeps, hopefully they can get thier camera back!

BTW, very cool of you to try to get it back to them. Sadly very few people today will do such a thing.

Perhaps a friendly LEO can assist by finding the registered owner of the Tan CJ5 by it's license plate, it's clearly visable.

Possibily, but they may be limited to using such information for official purposes. Maybe turn the camera over to DVNP, and they would not have any limitations to their LEO's, as long as they had time

Just kidding...

NM License plate. Maybe some of the 4x4 clubs from there would have a connection with 'em.

I work for Nps. Call the dispatch or visitor center for Death Valley NP. They will fill out a found property report. Give them the licence plate number. They'll run it and contact the owner. They may also have a lost property report already filed.

Great replies and action here people. I have a LEO connection but they haven't gotten back to me with any info so I thought I'd procrastinated long enough. The camera isn't significant to me, probably not to the owner either. It isn't the best digi around. They probably replaced it already with something far more superior. The memories are what is important and what I really want to get back to the owner. There were more pictures with better views of the plates. I did send the pics and info to ifoundyourcamera.net. As far as the guys outfit goes, it is perfect attire for DVNP in the winter. He's probably not the only one sporting such duds.

Man, you guys are awesome. I found a memory card in whole foods with tons of family photos. I tried for months to track down the family and even found an unused Facebook which I sent a message to but no one ever got back to me. Good luck!

This brings up a good reason to put your contact info on your memory card. I simply took a photo of my phone number, figuring anybody who finds the camera is gonna peep the pics. And then...

During a MTB trip on White Rim, I lost my camera one night along the trail. I rode back the next morning to where I thought I might have lost it. No luck. It had rained all night, and the trail was muddy, so I wrote it off.

A few days later, after I had returned home, I got a call from a guy who found my camera. It was another mountain biker that I had actually passed on the trail. The battery was dead, but when he got home, he pulled the memory card and got my phone number. He mailed it back. With a fresh battery, the camera actually turned on and worked... sorta... almost. At least I got my pics! :)
