Four By Land's Discovery

LOL, we have a 1999 GC with 75k and it has been babied, I am ready to turn it into a trail machine and Lindsay wants a mini cooper, or something super good on gas (tdi vw). She doesnt mind the Disco but it feels like a school bus to her and the H3 was awkward for her as well.

The Disco is a great rig but def. not for everyone.

Excellent, we are itching to get out, will be nice to met some of you guys!

Who makes a GOOD margarita?!?!

:campfire:

Yep, right around the corner, Louis. Although we haven't lived in the A-10 flight path for some time. We see mostly Border Patrol Blackhawks now!

Nope, although I grew up out there. We're 35 miles southwest of town, out Ajo and then about as far south on Sierrita Mountain Road as you can go without diff locks.

Louis,
This Disco owner comes every year on our Land Cruiser Death Valley trip. He has a dk. blue Disco now- sold this silver one.
It had SafarGard front/rr bumpers and African Outback alloy roofrack. Dont know the suspension details. Maybe give you some ideas...

Hi Louis,
Welcome to the forum, it’s great to have another Land Rover around:jumping:
I’ve also got a DII and located up here in Phoenix around 17 & Thunderbird

I’ve also been itching to get down to Tucson for a run so keep me posted!:smiley_drive:

Good luck with the build, I’ve always liked that green color and I am a big fan of the Slimline bumpers- great angles!!

That's sweet, do you have any photos of his current rig?

It's a slightly older model Disco 2 w/ the less fancy headlights and not as well equipped- but it does have the CDL. Sorry not the greatest shots of it.

BTW, do you know where to buy that front bumper shackle pictured above? I think it's pretty trick.

The silver one pictured was pretty cool looking but hindered w/o any lockers. interesting story on it's history and sadly, demise.

Pasquale or I can share in the future hopefully!:camping:

The black wheels look tight:beer:

Brian, I used to be bluerunner and I thought I should change names to go with the new truck, thanks for the welcomes though!

I have always like the Portal because people are friendly and helpful unlike some oth the other boards but it sucks because the Land Rover forum doesnt get much action so I want to change that... but i'm gonna need your help!

Have you done anything to your truck? Do you have a mod thread? I am waiting for Scott to post details on a trip so keep your eyes and ears peeled!

--4Lo, WOW, those are some really sweet cruisers, it looks to me he has a D1 which was made until 99 and less refined but a very capable rig, also came standard with the cdl, so it was ready to go!

HAHA, sad to here there's a sad story to go along with it, but would enjoy the social side of it nonetheless!

That shackle mount is one I have only seen on Safarigaurd bumpers, imho this would be a better solution.

Sure Louis,
I remember, bluerunner, now. Well, great new truck!

No I have not done a mod thread yet, nor have I added my rig to the reader's ride description thread, yet. I should do that soon.

Here is a pic - (Full on glamour shot with my dog and one of Mario's sweet trailers!)

Sweet color!

I know a guy that has a set of those rims you have on the back for 100$ if you need. Do you have a storage set up in the rear???

Where are the sliders from ?

How much lift and what size tires???

Looks great!

It had nothing to do w/ the LR's performance but some unsavory joyriders...!! Oh well... and the blue one has the small taillights so maybe it is the series 1?

thanks for the link- good stuff there. Their syn winch line is pricey tho!

Those are hoist rings. I used to have a link to the ones that SG gets, but can't find it right now. But do a search on hoist rings and you'll find plenty of options. Samples are:

Safari Gard uses the 5000lb ones.

cheers
