Hi,

I'm Sergio, I'm from Portugal and this is my ride, a 99' Freelander 2.0 Di, The Ugly Duckling :smiley_drive:

Probably is the most unlikely vehicle to be a expedition truck but, the fact is, most of the people that talk about it never had one or even drive one... This is my 7th Land Rover and 2nd Freelander, I already owned from Defender to the Range Rover.

It´s small enough to get through almost everywhere, have a great mpg, it's cheap to maintain and easy to fix, on the downside, don´t have low range gears and have a limited articulation (that the TC minimize)

Upgrades so far:

40mm lift
215R15 Goodyear Wrangler AT
ECU Remap
EGR out
CAT out
Alloy Sump Guard
Roof Rack
Midland CB + Santiago Antenna
Front Spot Lights

And here it is!

What means the 40mm lift? :smiley_drive:

That looks like some spectacular countryside - makes me wish I had made it to Portugal on one of my trips to Europe.
There is one guy over here that regularly off roads his Freelander.

They had a miserable reputation in the USA but we never got the diesel version which is supposed to be much better.

Hi,

Well, the reputation here (europe) is the same, but I think this was mostly created by bad decisions from LR and the "stealerships" (regarding some components that you may known like IRD or the viscous coupling). Again, fact is, this is my 2nd Freelander and by far, like the first one, they are the most unexpensive LR I ever had (the worst was the Range Rover P38 but I love it :) )

About the diesel versions, they have a great amount of torque and they are reliable (Mine is a daily drive, have 159000 miles on the clock)

About the country side, if someone want to came here just ask were to go and what to see ;)

I loved my 04. Daily drive and I wheeled it. Then the the disappearing coolant started. Sold it off after that. Most people to bash them never even owned one. They are super cheap here state side. My LR3 quickly filled that void
