Fridge stove microwave

Hi all
New here and to the world you guys are living in. I've been inspired by an ambulance that I saw on the UJoint website while surfing the Internet one day. I recently picked up a used ambulance on a Ford E350 platform from Wheeled Coach. I'm working with Chris from UJoint on the suspension and such while currently tackling the interior on my own. I want to install a fridge, stove top, microwave, jack-knife bed and sink. I'm looking for advice on what products I should use and how I should prepare for the install. I reside in NY just above the city. Not many people around that I see with this hobby but would love to catch up with some. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Hey all!!

Hi Michael and congrats on yet another ambo! You should look into the 4x4 camper van section to see what a bunch of us are doing with our vans/ambulances. There's some very similar minded people ;)

For specific questions about appliances you will also find info on the SMB forum
http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/viewforum.php?f=40&sid=59c649880e886349553b1348ab65eb8f

And you definitely started on the right track with Chris at UJOR. I wish I could just drop mine to his door but I'm on the other coast so I'll get my kit shipped and will be doing the instal on my own :(

Keep us updated!

Cheers

I will look into that, thank you! As soon as I figure out which section to post in, I will start putting up pics of the project.

Microwave ovens consume a lot of electricity. I have a little WaveBox in the van that will run on 12v or 110vac. I used it twice in 4 years to boil water but its slow compared to propane so it just takes up shelf space.

Are you saying to skip the microwave? The only real reason is probably to make popcorn and maybe heat some food. I'm really not a big fan of microwaves and can do without if its not in my best interest

As for the bed/sofa. I measured the amount of room I had and got www.discountvantruck.com/ to make me one. After wasting weeks trying to make other things fit. Worked out great.

I'm interested in having the same setup that I see in Justin's Megambo and Naterrys as well. I've not spoke to either one of them but I'm hoping to so I can order soon. I'm hoping to complete this by the beginning of June.

We have 4 group 27 batts in our RV, feeding a Xantrex Prosine inverter. The microwave hits it very hard - it's fine for popcorn or reheating a couple meals, but we don't use it if we're camping for longer than a weekend (hate running the generator). I can't imagine it being very useful at all with fewer batteries.

I would love to chat with you about that set up, I am at the point in my builds where I need to really focus on that and get what I need including some sound advice! Let me know if you are available to Chitty chat.

Skip the nuke.
Jiffy pop is much better, just takes you playing with it. I would happly take a fridge, range and sink over the nuke.

As said Skip the nuke. On my last trip solo trip I did not even use my double burner stove but instead used a tiny butane pack pack stove. It may not seem like much but every ounce of weight or spot of space you save will be helpfully even in a van.

I'm skipping the nuke!

Maybe want to take a look at our rig (signature link below) before skipping the nuke.

We use it all the time while touring, powered by batteries with inverter with a boost from engine alternator when batteries charge is low. Also power it with generator. Sure we could do without a microwave but having one, we use it daily while traveling.

Not sure why everyone says skip the microwave. I have a small one with an inverter and 2 batteries and it works great. I travel with my wife and a 2 year old and would not go without one.
Just my opinion.
