Fridges - How did you mount yours?

I have used a number of methods over the years. I really liked the ease of the Slidelock, but I don't think it would secure the fridge in an accident. I used turnbuckles for a while; very strong, but bulky and a hassle if you needed to remove the fridge in a hurry. I now use straps with a cam buckle. Very easy to use and strong.

I have seen your setup, very nice.

My FJ Cruiser was rear ended at around 30 MPH back in June of 2007, and my fridge did not even flinch when the SlideLock was on the rear of the cargobox.

..I have seen a couple custom build lock downs and slides on here..I'm hoping we can get them to post up also and would like to also see a bunch of strapped down fridges too..

Fair enough. Finally went and shot some photos of my current system yesterday since I'm planning the next evolution:

Quick and dirty (no strapping), but here's an idea of the fridge in the "travel" position:

Note that when travelling, the "stand" under the porta-potti is actually placed on top and used to strap it down also (and it forms a handy center console).

The general problem is that I have to un-strap and slide the fridge (and driver's seat) forward to deploy the bed (bed slides forward about 10" as the back drops). If I turn the fridge 90* and snug it up against the driver's seat, then it fits without moving it, but then it blocks easy use of the porta-potti as the fridge is wider than the driver's seat. Porta-potti also doubles as a "step" for getting up to the upper bunk when the top is popped.

In our FJC we have an ARB fridge mounted on the ARB slide. The slide is bolted through the floor of the FJ on the right hand side. I'll try to geet some pics of this.

We also have an Engel in our AT Horizon mounted in the standard way that AT does this - big beefy slide out.

I find the fridges are relatively deep, and to really see into them effectively it's very helpful to be able to pull them out from under whatever roof you may have them mounted under.
