Front end and Lights on a DD.

Plus the evo 2's look mall crawler/urban'tastic with those dumb half halos. Again, not worth the extra costs.

That's a matter of taste. I thought we were speaking of getting better lights for a Jeep. The half halos actually have a function. But you can get them without them, or simply not wire them in.

yes, they do, looking gettho fabulous. and the truck lites are better lights for the jeep, 1. cheaper than the JW. 2. Brighter than the JWs. 3. Better cosmetically than the JW> win win win.

Oh god, stay off the stern cult website. They are worse than scientoligists at coming after the almighty doubters.....There is more bull**** thrown around there than a cattle farm. Truck lites are totally worth it. Again, HID in the hella 500 housings are AWESOME. I have run them since 2008 and they still out perform multiple light bars my friends have. all for hundreds less. He is saying great stuff about CIBIEs because he sells them. Simple. They are good, but there are better out there.

Stern has some good info out there and most of the principles are correct, even if not applicable to every situation. But his ideas are definitely a little old-school (although I do share his preference for halogens due to better color rendering and lower eye strain). I wouldn't say to follow his writings as gospel by any means, but I wouldn't ignore them either.

Some of what lighting is best comes down to preference. But certain things like excessive foreground light hurting distance vision and drop-in HID kits almost always having horrible (and useless) beam patterns in housings designed for halogens are very, very true and can't be argued.

LED headlight replacements.

They are bright, but simply re-aim them and then you are good to go. Will improve both on road and off road capability.

Now that the sun sets at 5pm, I've been driving a lot at night. Having LEDs has been huge in improving the comfort of my vintage 4x4.

Other than that, get a 20" double stack combo light bar from Southeast overland and you are done.

As I said, I matter of taste. I disagree about the Trucklites being "brighter". I think they light up the road in an inferior fashion compared to Evo 2s. I agree, the TL are cheaper than the 8700 Evo 2s, but that's the only point of which we can agree.

This must have been on at the JW Speaker design facility....I.E. backyard Garage when they were inking the evo 2s.

Oh, great, posting a crappy rap video of sorts to somehow "prove" a connection with JW Speaker 8700s. That connection only exist in your mind. You do realise that, right?

YOu should aim your hellas up a little bit, and if you want to have 2 sun's in front of you, drop a set of 55w HIDs in your hellas. You will not notice the truck lites at all! BTW, takes balls to shut everything off....ha ha!

Yeah I know I could point the hellas up a bit but I do a lot of beach driving and dirt road type of driving so I want to make sure I'm not running over anything over that can do damage. Yeah I was also considering doing the hid upgrade on them, but I really don't think I need it,,, it would be overkill.

You obviously have ZERO sense of humor. Oh yah, I forgot, I'm insulting the JW. I disagree with your disagreement on the beam pattern. Truck lite is way more even than the lighting version of the movie, THE BLOB>

Again, debatable. In some housings of vehicles yes, in certain driving light housings, NOPE. the 500 with the HID kits installed are very even light no bright forground, just like a very even high beam light. much better than most LED lights available. In fact, the beam pattern in my 500s never changed when I switched to HID. in the stock jeep housings for the headlights, YEP. hid sucked.

Again, I converted my mazda 5 to HID, and again, the housing took to hid perfect, again no hot spots, no blinding other drivers etc. Even in the HI beam housings. Just even light. SO it really depends on the housing. He (stern) and his cronies are a bit to CULTISH for me. its like speaking about a religion. You know how that ends up most times.

The cheapest upgrade I did with the best results was replacing the H3 bulbs in my 6" KC Daylighters with a decent HID kit. Fantastic spot lights that reach out a mile.
The absolute best lighting upgrade overall was retrofitting a set of Mini H1 projectors into my factory housing. I never get flashed on low beams and have full 4-lane coverage at the same time.

Yes, retrofitting a set of good driving light housings with HID is the best bang for the buck. My hellas are like your KC, 1000m of light and great spread, no hot spots.
